I meant guys complaining about doing it on Cubs.

I took this PTO off a non running engine to put on a good one. How do I remove the bearing without taking the PTO apart. The engine I’m putting this on has the bearing already on it.

Michael, it looks like one set screw is still in it. On the left side at about 9:00 in your photo. If all the set screws are out it should come out however it might be a bit stuck in the PTO. Should be no need to take it apart. They do fit tightly together.

All the set screws are out. I'll put some penetrating oil on it and work it loose. Thanks.

Michael S.
If your not going to take it all apart, take a screw driver and do the tap around the clock thing from the front side. It will pop out after about 3 rounds.
And I see all the screws are out.

Yep now that I'm on my laptop instead of my phone I can see that all the set screws are out.

Michael - if Charlie's suggestion doesn't work why don't you just slip it part way back on the crankshaft and try twisting or cocking it a little around the sides.

Steve,

If you were talking about Roanoke, VA, I would be coming too!

Charlie,

I'll take one of those 5 gallon jugs!
Getting ready to go get me one Thursday, along with more Case/IH paint.
Will my 100 need more than 5 gallons of Hytran?

From the looks of the age of the pto, I would be guessing you will need main pressure springs also.

If not, this may help some.

1. Soak it with PB blaster first.
2. Use a small cup brush to remove any rust/debris from where the bearing will be coming out.
3. I have had luck with smacking the pto down on a piece of plywood, as flush with the bottom of the pto as possible. The plywood helps to not damage any threads.
This should jolt the bearing loose/out.

129 rockshaft pin.
Well I installed a new pin in the rock shaft plate. I cannot believe how much lift I have now. That pin was broke a long time. The brake was rusty. It must have hung on just a little to pull it up a little. I don't how that is possible, but it happened.
Do many of you have gas line filters? I don't but I think I am going to put one on. I just went through the carb, put in a new float valve and cleaned off both needles, cleaned out the passages with carb cleaner. Ran good for a little while. When I was putting the shed it stopped. Not getting gas. Had to spray gas into carb to get it into the shed. Some thing must be stuck or a piece of dirt blocked something. Another project.

I concur on the gravity feed fuel filter! Sometimes free and unknown aren't good combos...

Experienced that on 1200

I did some searching, and for 26x12x12 tires, I need 12 high by 10.5 wide rims correct? How about the back spacing? I have a set of 3 hour use Firestone 23 degree ags sitting and finally want to mount them on rims and pop on a Cub.

I could be wrong, Michael Smith but to me that Inner bearing race seems to be machined on a excentric? Is there also a excentric locking collar to hold this part on? I'm not farmiliar with this part.

Michael H., the eccentric collar locks the bearing onto a shaft. The bearing is stuck in the PTO which is usually just held in by the three sets of two set screws. It is a tight fit for the bearing in the PTO and typically the bearing stays on the crank shaft when the PTO is removed. I think Hydro has the best suggestion.

So you guys are saying that the locking collars on our Cubs are abnormal, irregular, aberrant, anomalous, odd, queer, strange, peculiar, weird, bizarre, outlandish, freakish? LOL

Instead of being just a little off center?

Thanks Kraig - and then there is this one to:

Michael S - if my last suggestion doesn't work then try this one. Slip the PTO about 1/2 way back onto the crankshaft. Re-install 1 set screw. Then grab around the outsides of the PTO with both hands and try to twist or cock it back and forth several times, going all the way around. Finally, remove that 1 set screw you put back in and slip the PTO off the crankshaft.

WALAAAA - I'll bet the bearing falls out of the PTO, or stays on the crankshaft.

Let us know what finally works.

Charlie - back at c'ya

I used this small pry bar. Let some PB blaster soak for about 30 minutes. Put the hook end through the center and gently pried up going clock wise. Popped right out.

Charlie,

You are right. (of course

)
What you showed cost a pretty penny!

This is all I got, and it cost me a hair over $210!

I am not complaining, I am very happy to get it.
The Case/IH dealer I bought this from has lost their IH dealership status due to low sales.
So, when their inventory is gone, it's gone for good.
I bought all the Irongard yellow and white they had.

Michael S - gol dang it, you had to go an use a method that now of us suggested. Now we'll never know who had the best suggestion.

Marty -

that's a lot of 935 White!!! I'm guessing you got BIG plans.

Santa must have brought Charlie a thesaurus for Christmas!

By the way, what's a synonym for thesaurus?

(Still crackin' myself up after all these years)
