So just flush out the entire fuel system, including bowl, tank and carb? Ok that sounds easy enough. Thanks.

Well, if i clean all the posts and connections, and tighten any loose ones, and flush out the fuel system, should it be ok again? Thanks!

I still would start with fresh fuel then take a close look again at the carb if you had it apart to make sure everything is where it should be. if this works it is a free fix cause you have to buy fuel anyway

Well just dop me some tips and let me know what i need to do to get this fixed, cause the 124 is my most reliable machine, and dont want it to be a wreck. Thanks.

Jeff,
When i had it apart, the bowl gasket was not in the right spot, so i tried to adjust it so the bowl would not leak. However when i adjusted the gasket, the engine wouldnot start, it just tried to, and then backfired out the exhaust. Im never good with carburetors, i just think they are a part that is a pain in the neck to get fixed or working again. I am also gonna try to clean out the bowl on the tank. I have another older tractor that had this same issue, and turns out that when i cleaned the bowl, it stopped. I think it could be fuel, but i am gonna inspect everything on my 124 to make sure. Thanks.

sounds good tim, I find it is easier to work on the carb when its off the tractor

Does anyone have any pics or instructions on how to tighten the belt on a Q42A snow blower. I widen it to fit on my 1450 but can quite figure out the whole adjustment set up. Thanks

Tom G, I've had that happen, you may have a blown head gasket.

Jeff B.-

Baffles keep gas from sloshing around in the tank and coming out the top. There's a gap at the bottom and top, it's not sealed off...what would be the point of that?

Richard B.-

As dirty as that screen looks, I'd take all the sheetmetal off the motor and clean it up. I bet it's as dirty as that screen. It'll run cooler if it's clean.

Tim D.-

That 5 month old gas is too old. The carb is probably gummed up inside, too...clean out all the passages in the carb and use fresh gas and you should be set.

Tom G.-

Hard starting = timing off. 0.020" rarely corresponds to the correct timing. Use your ohmmeter to make sure that the points just begin to break as the "S" mark appears in the sight window on the flywheel shroud.

Thanks a bunch Charlie, that should do it.

Thanks for setting me straight on the price-list thing.

Not sure why I haden't thought of that earlier...

Richard Smith (2-17 7:16pm): Now THAT's a question I've never seen asked (and have no answer for). Seems like a calm day would be one requirement.

Can I use a BB36 right angle drive on my QA42 snow thrower? <!-/quote-!>

The Right Angle Drives for the snowthrower are somewhat similar. They (BB-36 vs QA-36) share the same gear box but the internal parts are different.

Looks like it would bolt up but I have no idea on the performance factor.

Hey Guys.... I have a power angle snow blade that is missing the cylinder. It looks like it has all the brackets but no cylinder.
What size is the cylinder? Maybe I can get a replacement here at work. We have a bunch of used ones. Just don't know if I can rig something up or not.

Thanks!

Morning Frank C
its snowing here this am. Took me 4 hrs yesterday to get it all cleaned up and the the highway guys decided to push the banks back and filled the drive. Had to use the loader because the snow was old and frozen and full of ground and rocks. I did up and down the road so there is lots of room for more snow now.We have snow on the ground now most of this winter and this is not normal for us here. We usually get snow and then rain a few days later and the snow will be gone.I was thinking last night that when the 450 snow blower gets here next winter I will be ready and we will get no snow next winter as usual. The wife has a few days off and there will be no tractor time for me as she has a list of thing she wants to do lol. ( I hate those lists)After every day she has off she will cross off the list and remind me what WE have to do before she has to go back to work.I have the 1961 Original in pieces now and have started to glass blast and sand parts and get them ready to prime and paint. I have a few pieces set aside to have water blasted to see how that works. I have started a list off needs (parts) that i`am sure Charlie will send out to me,2 hydro valves are at the top of the list $$ and a few other things for a 104 and 125 for other people. I should have been thinking and left the Original to do next year and did a Diesel before I install the Cat O and all the front and rear ports. so today I will have to take the D apart and replace the fuel lines

as the screen in the tank must be plugged up. I use the CC parts look up a lot to see how things are put together and have found that the screens don`t show up in the list of parts for the tractor

good luck with the cylinder as I`am sure its an odd size. I think its about 11" in body size. You can move the blade both angles and measure the travel and then you will know the amount of swing and then you can have a cylinder made. I looked and would have to do that here to get power angle on my 54" cub blade. Later Don T
