Todd H. Changing my 149 out made all the difference in the world. The way those front couplers on the 147's and 149's get worn out from the roll pins is crazy. With the 1450 setup and new rubber couplers, (AND NO STINKING ROLL PIN) life is much better. Nick

Kraig, or anyone, do you have this grease gun decal for your original and if so, where does it go? Thanks, Nick

Nick H., I can not speak of spirol pin wear on a hydro. I do know that my 128 cub sports the factory driveshaft spirol pins. Just another item on the list for the 147 I guess.......

Todd, the 147 we had when I was growing up and the 149 I have now, the front hub that bolts to the engine was really worn out from the spirol pin to the point that you had to use a 1/4" bolt and a nut instead of the pin. Nick

RichardL & FrankA Thanks for the welcome Yes I Thanked the kids for the best Xmas present ever They are not Babys both in their 30ths but still my kids. I had no idea about a Cub Tractor till I come home and found it covered with a tarp on the side of the pole barn I live in the country and it was pretty safe. after I used it to clean the Circle Drive of 10 inches of snow you can bet it found a new home in the pole barn that night. It's In great shape very litle rust all surface will blast Hood and paint when it gets warm, Smokes on the choke when started but Quits as soon as I push the choke in.So I guess I have something new to build however think I will leave this one stock Have been out of racing since I closed the motorcycle shop, and a puller looks like it might be fun but will get another tractor to get crazy with if i do that. retired on social securty so I have to watch my money but in the summer I always pick up some extra jobs. Thanks John

Todd,

I had the same problem with wear on the engine coupling on my 147. I used a bolt instead of the pin but it snapped as well. Finally replaced the coupling and all is well now. BTW, the OEM pin for the engine coupling on a 147 was a solid pin, not a spirol pin. I've heard others use the flex coupling on the front with good results. I may give that a try one of these days.
