Kentucky Ken I thank you for posting the FAQ. I've already followed that advice twice, and no matter how careful I am, the casting around the float lock button is so thin, using pliers bends it up or breaks it. I need to know if there is a way to get the float lock button off without damage, so it can be reused.

Thanks,

John-David Reaves

KEN - I'm not greedy.....I'll share.....I just don't deliver but I'll load Your truck up if You want a load of snow to play with.

Ken-
I'm going to try to say this calmly......

DO YOU THINK THIS MIGHT BE A PROBLEM?!?!?!?

Jeez man...... Blow up yourself if you want to, but don't go posting it here for all of us to witness!

Bottom line, those heaters get way to hot for what you're trying to do. Maybe you should think about something like this instead?

As a follow up to my question about removing a float lock button from a 169 manual lift handle without damaging it, I need to know if anyone has installed a float lock button, and if so, how did you do it without damaging it? $27 (including shipping) or so, at a pop, for a new button and then not installing it properly can get expensive.

Art - You think 150w is cool enough not to reach BEYOND the flash point ??? You're more wrong than I am BECAUSE I am going to use the thermostat cut off to regulate the temp between 90-105 degrees.

I am also thinking about plumbing it with a copper coil and pumping heated water through it but then I still need to regulate the water temp.

John - There's been some around here removing the button but they all pull it with pliers , if it gets crushed they bite the bullet and buy a new one. IF you don't want to pull it then try soldering something to it to pull it by ... there's no other way unless you can bend spoons with your mind

hello all. i spent 3 hrs cleaning up after the snow storm we got. had to use my blower (snapper)
to clean up. had the 149 out just to make tracks in the snow. I can`t wait till spring so i`ll get more seat time. i want to build a cub road around the back of my lot so i can get to our storage building without traveling on my grass. have a great Day.... later DonT

Ken-
I know you're planning on regulating the temp with that thermostat (I can read) but when unless you've got some fancy-schmancy switch in there, when it kicks in, it's kicking in at full amperage (300-400 degrees) which is twice the flashpoint as listed in the literature you posted.

I'm not trying to be argumentive, just don't want this...

Art Art Art where did Kraig and I go wrong in yer up bringing ??
biggrin.gif

The heater is on the bottom of the tank , no direct contact with fluid. The fluid directly above the heater is cooled by the 10 gallon of fluid in the tank thus having to heat the whole 10 gallon to bring the temp up.

And I ran it for 30 minutes yesterday using my higly calibrated finger as a thermostat

Art, I never knew you cared so much about KENtucky's well being.

KENtucky, I had nothing to do with Art's upbringing... When was the last time you had your finger calibrated? Who's this "higly" that calibrated it last time?
dunno.gif
Test instruments do go out of calibration ya know. Sure couldn't hurt to install a backup thermometer in there to get an actual number.

Kraig - I tested it on this

and it said it was hot ... I like it hot

After 20 minutes the fluid was still chilled so I reached under the tank to feel the heater and got burnt !

Art did get me to do some searching ... This would be perfect to heat a copper coil of water inside the bottom of the tank. Then put the McMaster thermostat cuttoff in the power cord.

oooo Charlie is SOOOOO gonna whip us .... but there's no CUB pics being posted today

Ken you could add a well for a heating system to your tank than add a stat to it that you can adjust the temp giving you a little more flexibility

Ken, move your tank into the kitchen where it's a little bit warmer, doubles as a nice portable dishwasher for the mrs.

TIM - I know for a fact Cubbie parts HAVE been cleaned in dishwashers.....And no it wasn't anything of Mine.....I have a parts washer.

KEN - Kats makes those blockheaters in different sizes....like 500, 850, & 1500 W so You could control temps with different wattages. Also they have a temp. regulator in them so they don't get too hot. But I think they do get over 140-150 deg. still.

Ken-
I have a better idea...

Plug the heater into the wall, stick your "highly calibrated finger" into that parts cleaning goop and drop the heater right in!

Two questions:
Are the rear fenders from a 86 the same dimensions as a 126? width wise.

Looking for any info on this cab. The doors latch and slide on a rod (like a shower curtain). It also has a hand wiper.
thanks in advance..Joe

Joeseph, that is a Deluxe Cab. Was actually made to fit the 86 but not the 126. Not that it wouldn't mount to a 126 like you have it there...
