Fellas,
My 'dual dipstick' engine has a "STICKER TAG" (indicating that it was a replacement engine).
It reads: Model# K301A; Spec # 47376b; Serial # 3147530.
I believe the first two digits in the serial # indicates that it was manufactured in 1971.

Ryan, last may I helped rebuild a 12 horse in a 100. <font color="0000ff">It had the right hand dip stick tube but also the cam gear dip stick.</font>
It had the balance gears. when you pull out the long dip stick it's real short and had "check other dipstick" or something like that, stamped on it.<!-/quote-!><hr size=0></blockquote>

As Dave R. pointed out above, there were some Kohler engines built with these "dual dipsticks".
Does anyone have any idea as to how many 'dual dipstick' engines might have been produced?

Ryan, Kraig, From my total expirience (the two before, the one last may and Ryans) I'm gonna have to say 4, but who knows there could be as many as 20 or 25 out there.

Guys - I'm trying to post a picture and have my camera set on VGA which is suppose to be the best for emails. It's the smallest size I can program, I think. It's a sony cybershot. I hope it's ok to post this ? here. If not please let me know and if so I need a camera expert. If you want, please get my email address from my profile and answer there if this isn't this right place. Sometimes I almost always feel dumb as a chicken. Thanks, Wayne

Re: Coil check readings as well as checking to case are credited to Roland Bedell on his post/diagram.
I was just an info reposter this time. A.
Kraig do you have the color diagram he made? maybe some members would like to print it for future ref.

Wayne S:
The forum software will prevent you from uploading a picture larger than 100KB. Also, for the sake of those with smaller screens, limit the width to 800 pixels..... There have been several threads on resizing software. Lots of free software available, including from Microsoft itself (in their Powertoy assortment)
