Matt thanks for suggestion the axel pivit pin slid right back into place with no dammage to anything, glad i caught it early, so roll pin or bolt what do you think? i have a small bolt in there right now.

Jeff Baker,

I am not the expert, but I have been reading this forum for the last year. Spirol Pins would seem to be the recommendation. They expand to fit snug and not allow any slop, and they compress to absorb shock. That is the way I would go.

Brendan B -

"...looks like he used it for a mail box at one time....not a bad idea"

It looks pretty high to me - must've been for Air Mail?

need some help with a haban 402d sickle mower. I am trying to find the correct or close to belt from the engine pto to the jackshaft, I have the haban part number (5771) but I am not able to cross reference to find a new good number does anybody have a belt number? Thanks josh

Josh, slide down the page a little to where Charlie posted a link to a 402D manual.
Dig thru and you will find that a 5771 replaced a 6106 which is listed as 3V-33.5" oc. Engine to jackshaft.

Fellas,
I suspect this subject has been discussed before, but I wasn't able to locate it in the 'search'.

I have gathered that most here are of the opinion that balance gears are not a good thing to have.
Bruce N. commented a bit ago about not knowing if his 129 had balance gears or not, and seemed concerned about that fact.

I also sometimes worry about that. I sometimes think I should:

1) pull my engine out of my 129 and tear it apart to see if they're in there, and if so, then remove them BEFORE they explode and ruin the engine.
-or-
2) I should just wait until I plan a teardown and remove them at that time, (hopefully before they blow...)

Now I know that some engines didn't come with them. Fine.
But if your engine MIGHT have them and you didn't know if they're in there or not,
-- What would you do?

Thanks for your thoughts,
Ryan Wilke}

Andrwew C, What does the tag on the engine say?
If it says K-161 it is a model 70. if it says K-241 it is a model 100. I hope this helps

Ryan...Every one of them that enter my cave get the grenade gears taken out. I'm running a 301 in my 73 now that I took them out of and to be honest, I don't feel any more shake than before. I'm not positive but I think Kohler quit using them. As a matter of fact...the gears I took out of the 301 for my 73 had shown signs of getting ready to air condition the block. The bearings were real loose and some of the teeth looked like they were already binding at times. I should have saved them for a reminder...they looked rough.
