Todd..I apologize if you thought I meant start the engine by touching switch wire to s/g to start engine...It was not my intent to mislead you..That wire can't handle the amps it takes to turn the s/g but just touching it would show you're getting 12 v thru the switch. It might just spark or even grunt but do not try to start with that wire...again,sorry

So I got it going. I found how the previous solenoid was a little different than the new one. The posts for S and I are opposite. This was not initially observed. I just wired the new as the old. Hence no results. In taking off to return to store I discovered the mistake. Re-installed correctly and all is well. I am so sorry to have overlooked my mistake for so long. This led to you good people giving great advice for the wrong problem. The real culprit was me. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dan in Richmond. Going to Africa this week to teach for 3 weeks in rural Zambia. Will visit Victoria Falls and should be in Elephant avoidance mode on the rural farm I teach at.

If you want to know more and would like to donate to the work, it is ongoing and will take me the rest of my life to fulfill the dream of bringing abundances to rural farmers who now live on $2 to $3 per day per family. my farm is at www. bringforthurbanfarm dot com /africa tab gives our work vision.

Dan - Glad to hear you figured it out. Safe travels to you. And remember, there's a section on this forum for random photos. You know, things like amazing waterfalls, African wildlife, etc!
