So I took the 100 down off shelf a few weeks ago after about 3 years?

Debating a carb replacement or at very least, a good cleaning! If I remember correctly it was a bit rough running when last used? I know linkage is getting worn too.
Question... where are you guys getting good replacement carbs and linkage if needed?
Gas tank....seems to have a liner or something flaking off now. How or what do I recoat it with? Clean up the flaking stuff how? Don't want to replace tank if I can as mine is in good shape still. Glass bowl needs a good cleaning too!
With a worn carb, is it even a good idea to drop it into a cleaning solution like Simple Green in fear of things not working right again?
Also, where do you find that black meshy wire wrap? The stuff from factory that keeps multiple wires together in wire harness? What is it even called?

Carter model N carb. Bit of rust inside, guessing float will be nasty too. Green stuff come out when tipped over.

More tank crud liner
I usually put a half dozen golf ball sized stones (sharper edges than gravel) along with some type of cleaner fluid, and just shake the tank around until all the old sealer, rust, dirt, etc. is loosened, and gone. I'm not sure what type of cleaning fluid you will need, but I'd see what breaks down some of the chunks you have gotten out, so far. Good luck

Good idea!
I "think" I have it all out now. It was a heck of a pile of stuff. Some of it was about 1/4" thick. Had to use two pair of needle nose pliers to reach in and break them apart to get through the filler neck.
Now just need to find out what they used to line it with OR if I really need it? I never thought it leaked except at the drain/exit furl - but had that bronzed up years ago. So I might not need to do anything with it? Its nice and shiny inside, VERY little surface rust at the threads where the bowl attaches. That's all I can see so far?

That stuff looks like sugar, taste it and let us know. If the tank has baffles in it the stone will not go beyond them, may even get stuck in there.
