IDK, seems like a sales gimmick. Would have to actually run one first.

You know - IMHO, MTD is notorious for trying out this new stuff and much pain sometimes is endured by the end user.

Examples:

- Variable belt drive transmissions on lawn tractors, reviews are pretty bad. Almost bought one, got a hydro instead.

- Timed decks on the LTX 1000 series garden tractors with two blade decks. Not very good reviews on those either. I dodged a bullet on that one too.

- First few years of the GT 2500 series garden tractors, plastic hoods falling apart. Finally got them fixed (I am to understand) at the end of the series run, ditched the design with the latest GT 2000 series lawn/garden tractors.

In defense of MTD, the CC lawn tractor I have - has been outstanding (knock on wood), three summers of hard mowing with it - no problems, cuts as good or better than any garden tractor I've owned. Disperses clippings better than any garden tractor I've owned and the domed deck will not hold grass underneath for rust to eat out the deck. Mows great wet or dry grass.

Also, the family inherited an MTD Statesman lawn tractor. All mannor of family used this lawn tractor and it saw a HARD life with much abuse and neglect. Lasted about 15 years, but when was finished - was finished and off to the scrap yard. For the $$$'s, couldn't have asked more of this tractor.

Just wish MTD would stick with what works, advertise and market those strengths, rather than use gimmicks.

If my 1650 & QA42A won't handle it, I don't need ta be out in it! That's what my son has a Ramcharger & blade for!

Since I got into Cubs, my MTD blower has been collecting dust all last winter. I doubt if I will even bring it out of storage this year.
JMHO

Something tells me that front slinger-thing is not even supported by a ball bearing, just an oilite bushing most likely. Sad... to think they spend $ on this but continually end parts support for many newer model tractors like the 1772, 2284 and such. Heck, those are some of the best CCC had, with the IHC basic design but with such creature features as power steering OHV engines among them. That is why I always bemoan the 1996-97 changeover to the first "real" MTD designs.
