My K301AQS is nearly done for. I found a K321S which I was told was a drop-in with 2 more HP. I have a 50" deck which has over taxed the original. Anyway, the 321 has a different oil pan (& block apparently) Has anyone done this exchange before? Please advise, Thanks. Please excuse me if I have posted in the wrong forum. New to this site... Regards,

Yes, just swap the oil pan and drop in the k321 (14hp). A 50" deck may have been a bit much for the 12hp, especially if the blades were note regularly sharpened.

While you have the oil pans off, look to see if your 321 has balance gears. You'll want to remove them if it does. They are called garnade gears for a reason. I suspect it will not have them given its an older block with a flat pan.

It does not appear to be that simple. The K321 has a flanged oil pan and block, whereas the 301 has all recessed bolts. Maybe I can get some photos today to illustrate. Thanks.
