Good afternoon friends:
I purchased a Cub Cadet 1872 Super Garden Tractor in 1988 and it has served me well. However, after 37 years, it is getting very difficult for me to find replacement parts and joined this forum in the hopes that I might enlist your help and expertise in locating replacement parts. I currently reside in Lake Wylie, SC

Welcome! 1872 is a great machine. I have two of them. What parts are you looking for? Most anything you need is available used, if not new. There are a variety of aftermarket sources for some of the parts that have been discontinued by Cub Cadet. We can point you in the right direction if we know what you are looking for.

Recently developed a good leak by the hydraulic pump at the shaft output. was looking for a "pump kit-charge which includes parts 27-32 in the parts diagram. Part number for the kit is listed as SU-11060903. might only need the seal but don't want to take it apart till I can locate parts. Have you or anyone ever replaced a seal to the pump? Any help you can offer would be appreciated. I have never had to take it apart till now.

You shouldn't need the charge pump kit assuming that the hydraulics are still operating normally. How many hours does the tractor have?

The seal can be replaced without much disassembly, but before ordering parts I would make sure there is no radial play in the transmission input shaft. If there is, both input shaft bearings need to be replaced, and that requires a bit more extensive disassembly. If there is no radial play in the shaft, remove the driveshaft and rear coupler and drill a 1/16" hole in the seal, taking care not to drill into the shaft or housing, screw in a small screw, and pry the seal out. You can replace one of the seals without taking the pump apart.

Check around the pump seal too.

If by some slim chance you need the kit, I have that as well. But I don't think you will.
