Well it’s been awhile but I figured I’d make a post about my long and drawn out pump rebuild on my 1963 70.
I found a used pump with the belly lift and the lift cylinder as a package at Portland, IN swap meet back in 2021 but condition was unknown. Looking up manuals I found an installation manual with all the hole locations for the mounts and instructions. Followed that and got it all set up on the tractor and filled it up for it to work great but leak all over. I ran it for a summer and decided to tear into it and rebuild it later that winter and came to a stop when my boy was born in December 2021.
Picking up where I lift off now in 2025 and another kid later… I found a website with a few good sources I’ll post on here for some new seals and part numbers. eBay also helped.

Basically sand blasted all the painted parts.
Tore the pump apart and inspected the gears and cleaned the ports out. Gears had some wear but cleaned up good.
Kinda sucks these don’t have bushing in the pulley shaft bore. Kinda more play than I like but for what I use it for I didn’t want to get into machining a bushing and boring out the housing. So I put it together and just hope the two lip seals in the shaft bore do their job.
(There are 2 lip seals in the bore. Had to use a 1/2” Swagelok nut and a socket to tap them in)
Had to make a new valve direction rod (the one that screws into the end of the pump) but all it was is a bolt I cut the head off and milled 2 flats on and drilled a hole for the linkage that I also had to make new because the old one was thin from wear.
I did buy a new detent spring but was unhappy how it fit and made the valve direction have lots of slop so I used the old one that was good and tight.
All in all what should have took me a few days took over 3 years but it’s finally back together and just needs painted. I made new lines for it when I test fit everything so once it’s on the tractor should be ready to go!

Good job, did you add it or was it on the 70 when you purchased it?
I added it after years of arm lifting. Even with the spring assist this is so much nicer. I’ve never plowed with this tho so I’m hoping it would lift my one bottom plow ok if I ever put it back on

Thank you, where did you find the parts?
The new spring was from eBay and the Seals I found a part number off the website I put in this post and then double checked the sizes to make sure they worked. The reservoir gasket I made at work
