I vote for Vbulletin I'm a mod on another forum and love it. Its easier to post pics and quote other members, this makes its easier to keep track of your question or problem.

just my 2cents

I also prefer the type we have here, I have registered at a few others but never returned after finding this one. it is simple to use and navigate thru.

I'm happy with things the way they are - maybe because I'm old and it's my job to resist change? (HA!, gotcha! I'm still young enough to roll with the flow!!

Discus is likely not a contender going forward for support/future development reasons. I’m sure we can reinstall Discus from scratch, start all over and go for a few years/months/weeks/hours until it all craps out again. If we’re going to go through all that work, I would certainly vote to ditch Discus right away rather than later.

And nobody said you can’t create a single thread on vBulletin and just keep posting to it like we do on the main topic.

I’ll have to look into picture posting – I’ve never had an issue with most sites because I maintain my own pics on my own server and just link to them. I don’t know if they have a facility for uploading pictures. They probably do, but most sites I visit don’t want to use the disk space for everyone’s pictures.

Also, Discus sites have been hacked, phpBB sites have been hacked, vBulletin sites have been hacked. It happens, it’s a fact of life, I’m sure we can handle it ;)

I do know that discus has had it's problems throughout the years. I wasn't sure about it's future. But, that could be said of any forum software, I would think. I hate to bring it up, but the registry just got back on line and the feel is just not the same with it. I don't care for it now at all. I hate to see this forum lose it's feel and familiarity that it has had now for many years.

Greg J: It is NOT easier to post photo's on Vbulletin!! All you get is those unreadable/unviewable little ole mini's or thumbnails. And, if you ever do post a photo, Vbulletin won't let you ever post it again, even on a different thread even several years later!! Plus, I have no intention of ever posting anything to PhotoBucket (or the like) just so I can then relay it to a Vbulletin based forum!! What nonsense!! That's the real world experience of Vbulletin... Given that this is a family oriended forum, I won't tell you what I think should be done with Vbulletin.

Myron it depends on how the forum is setup when it comes to posting pictures. We had a problem with some members posting huge pic and you would have to scroll side to side to see the whole pic. With the new V bulletin update you are able to up load a pic without resizing and it is a lot easier and you still have a nice size pic with out thumb nails. Yes you can only post a pic one time but you can post a link to a pic so it can be found.

Greg J: Charlie can sort it out when he checks the program, but, unfortunately, your rationalization doesn't match my reality... post a link to a photo you posted a couple of years ago ?? ..maybe your memory is better than mine as to where it might, by then, be in the archives!! ... but that is just another example of Vbulletin nonsense IMHO...

It also only tells you which thread it is in, and not which page. If you have 15 pages in a thread, who wants to dig through all of that just to repost a picture? Not me...

Hi all, I have had to log in on every page for over a year now, both with the house(XP) and the lap top(Vista). I'm not a big poster by any means, but I chose this site over the overs and belong ONLY to this site because of the format. I am on amost everyday and have become used to this format and would like it to stay the same, but that is my resistance to change.

By the way I thank Aaron @ Extreme for my finding this site because when I got my 1250 I used google pics and found his site and the link here.

When I got my first Cub 6 or 7 years ago I went searching for info and don't even know which sites I discovered. What I do recall is that, being unfamiliar with forums, I found most of them very confusing. When I stumbled upon this site it was very intuitive and easy for me to pick up. That, coupled with my "old man's resistance to change" is why I would love to see any new iterations of this forum keep the same format. That being said, it's the members who really make this forum, so I guess any format will be ok with me, as long as it doesn't chase away the voices of experience.

Charlie; I an not very familar with other forums but like the single thread format. Thanks

Myron Go to the top of the page and you'll see "User CP" Scroll to the bottom and you'll see "Attachments" click on attachments and it will show all the pictures I've posted. If you would like my password let me know and I'll send you an email to check it out.
Took me about 30 second to find my pictures.

This is the 1st pic I posted back in 2004

My vote is for a site which makes it easy to load photos, whether that means sticking with this or another. I know I read what you guys have said on the previous page, but in the past(and the future too) we have all read a post and then either stated or at least thought

For me it's rather easy to just go to my pics in my computer and put it on, well unless that pic is on my computer at home, etc...

Every Forum Program has their Pros and Cons. There are things I like about Discus and things I don't care for. Same as true for Vbulletin and others (ie: phpbb, etc). I have just learned the workings of each and work around the problem areas.

Bottom line is, Charlie will have to decide what suits him the best, what program gives the best support. a program that is stable, and a program
does the best job of warding off hackers.

In trying to learn how the internet handles info I came up with a couple questions...
Are the web sites with problems on the same server?
Do we have any info on the server(s) that finally feed ours?
What server is sending me back a corrected web address?
The number in the address for this post is smaller than the one on the main Forum...

Thats strange!
Anybody got a DataScope to see the message coming into the server...maybe the site is ok but we're getting garbage(virus) from a farther away server!

I like this format, I especially like logging in through the Search Board using Messages since I last checked for new messages and every thing that I haven't seen to date is right there. I don't like the single thread format of other sites.
just my 2 cents
