Tractor Wanted Looking for a Cub Cadet 2284

I’m searching for a MTD CC 2284 for a local neighbor. This neighbor has a 2-1/2 acre area to mow and some of the that area is quite steep. I’ve been mowing the lawn the past 3 years with my 2284. The only way the hilly area can be mowed is with a mower that has dual rear braking system to help keep the tractor in a straight line across the hill. Most likely any 20+HP Cub Cadet with Dual brakes would do the job. Thing is he loves my 2284 and he can’t find one for sale. So I told him I would try to see if I could find one or something that is capable of mowing his lawn. By the way there are areas on the hill that is at least 45 degrees. If anyone knows of one for sale please let me know. Any thing within a 150 mile radius of Cincinnati Ohio would be great.

You can also look for an 1872. A little older but comes with a mag engine and has metal instead of plastic shields, hood and nose piece.

This looks like a 2284 and says 2284 on the side panel. Really never heard of a 2281. 2284’s were built from 1995-1997

Was able to make contact and hopefully everything works out and my neighbor gets his mower. He is excited about the possibility of becoming a CC 2284 owner.

I would be worried about any 45 degree hill no matter the mower and tire setup. diamond chains might help but if it starts sliding its not gonna stop until you reach the bottom of the hill
the 54 deck would be better for hills since it is quite a bit lighter than the 60" on the 2284

The 2284 I’ve been mowing their lawn with has the 60” deck has ag tractor ribbed tires with 60lb weights and fluid In the rear tires and total tractor weight is approx. 1300lbs. Adding my weight we have little over 1500lbs I mow going across the hill and sit on rear upper fender’s and it goes in a strait line across the hill but you have to use the individual rear brakes as help. Has 25HP Kohler engine that weighs approx 150Lbs and I’m able to mow going up and down the hill as well.
