Upgrade NowYep, tried that, gonna clean and reinstall own carbWelcome. Try turning the adjustment screws.
Are you sure you put the governor linkage in the correct hole? Many carbs have multiple holes on that butterfly plate.Replaced my Kohler carburetor because the original was leaking gas got a replacement off of Amazon installed it, engine runs fine in the high throttle indent, but it lower RPMs it surges and wants to shut off
Thank you, I’m gonna do the exact same thing and I have already installed the valve, appreciate your adviceLow-cost carburetor rebuild kits are readily available on Amazon and are usually priced at less than $10. A rebuild is a fairly simple process usually requiring less than an hour without expensive, specialized tools and there are many tutorials for how to do a rebuild on YouTube. Just disassembling and cleaning has its problems and if not careful (in spite of everything you do to prevent it) it could result in a torn bowl gasket or leaking bowl nut gasket as the result of old and dried-up gaskets. If that happens during disassembly the carburetor will require installation of new gaskets which are included in a rebuild kit. But if you still prefer to try first just cleaning and reinstalling your OEM carburetor and that doesn't stop your leak problem a simple in line fuel cut off valve usually available on Amazon for less than $5 will solve your leak problem.
I gave up on Chinese knockoffs after multiple attempts to use them failed and decided to rebuild my OEM gravity fed Walbro carburetors which immediately solved my problems of fuel leaking and the engine not idling properly no matter how many adjustments were made to the carburetor jets. The rebuilds were simple, quick and relatively inexpensive and allowed my Kohler 12.5 vertical shaft engines to once again run as designed with NO FUEL LEAKS. But just to be sure they don't leak again I installed an inline fuel shutoff switch for each of them which allows me to sleep comfortably at night without the worry of a late-night fuel leak and possible fire while my riding mowers are parked in the garage.
probably best to start a new thread in the classifieds section:Taking a shot here. Don't know if its OK to post this or not, but I am going to be selling my 1973 International Cub Cadet 149 this Spring. I have owned it 30 years+. I have used it, taken care of it, normal maintenance, and mostly kept it inside out of the weather. It has tractor tires and wheel weights but will need front tires soon (worn). The 44" deck/blades are in very good shape. It runs just about as well now as it did 30 years ago. I paid over $1100 for around 1993 or so which is equivalent to around $2200 or so today. I would like to know if anyone has a reasonable idea as to what I should ask for it. If anyone is in the Upstate of SC and seriously interested, let me know. I don't intend to give it away. Thanks for any inputs.
