Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone: It looks like I'm going to be trading lots of time with little money for lots of money with little time --I'll be working six days a week.

That's about a year off.

So true -- money and no time or time and no money. Good luck, Jeremiah!

Jeremiah-

It's my understanding that there's nothing wrong or bad about "lots of money".

Just be sure and contribute regularly to the cub fund.

Good luck!

Mike: "Hopefully not year round for the next few years!" --looks like it. They told me that they try to give everyone four days off a month, which would include at least one Sat+Sun together. One fellow opined that things weren't so bad "when we're fully staffed." It promises to be a rough ride in more ways than one. The challenge will be if I can convince my body to maintain the pace.

Frank: "That's about a year off." I enjoyed the first few months of my 6-month "lay-off" but I've been job-hunting very hard since the first of the year. I discovered that looking for work can be exhausting, mentally and emotionally, if not physically. The search consumed the better part of at least 4 days every week, not including on-line searches, posting, etc. I was getting tired of it, especially since all my labor (and expenses) weren't producing any job offers. So I'll be happy to trade all this "time off" for an honest day's work for a decent wage, even it it is an hour's drive each way.

Wayne: "Just be sure and contribute regularly to the cub fund." Yeah, Charlie and the other sponsors should finally be seeing some orders coming through.

Several of the forum members have contacted me over the last few months to say, "Where are you?" My stock answer has been, "Busy." I mean it.

As if working 12 hours-a-day 7 days-a-week wasn't enough, when a friend called me to say that he needed someone to teach a Motor Controls class at the local community college, I jumped at the chance. 12 hour days became 18 hour days. Class at 8:00 AM, leave by 12:30 PM to make work by 2:00 PM "sharp", then try to make it home again by 12:30 AM in order to get enough sleep to get up at 6:30 AM to start the process all over again. Suddenly, two days "off" each week (when I only had to work 12 hours instead of 18 hours) wasn't enough to recover my "balance." My students noted when I was having "one of those days" staying awake in a class that I WAS TEACHING! ! ! !

I won't go into the details of how my vehicle survived collisions with two deer and a mailbox, but I will say that the drive home can be brutal. I'm lucky to be able to post, really.

Anyway, things have simmered down for the time being, and I've completed other projects which claimed my attention (see "Things that Kill my Cub Time" in the Sandbox), so I should be able to post more often, or at least lurk a bit more than I have been in the last few months.

I still have to complete the hanger for the "quiet" muffler on my 149; repair or replace the motor in the 782 (I'm leaning toward putting motor #1 back in with a crank adapter, just to get going again). I've stayed off CL, if only to avoid temptation, but I'm getting the itch again.. . .

And I AM going to get my fancy-dancy compressor going this year!

Did I mention that I lost twenty pounds of hard-earned over-the-belt gut?

Anyway, I appreciate the thoughts expressed by many here; I didn't realize I had so many friends in cyberspace (no, I don't Facebook --yet
