What does this rubber booted switch do. It is activated when the brake peddle is pushed.

What causes the forward/reverse lever to return to neutral when the brake is pushed? Is it purely mechanical or is it electrical with this button switch?

I'm rewiring my 782 and don't want to disconnect something that I might want

That would be a starting interlock switch. The tractor wont start unless the pedal is depressed actuating the switch. The return to neutral of the forward/reverse hydro control lever with the push of the brake is purely mechanical.
