thanks Steve..
Ok, buy 2 gallons of fluid.
Believe me, I am more sympathetic to equipment then most people I know (Just ask my wife : ) ) I feel for these things in extreme weather. Warm up and easy going is my motto.
I don't have any IH or Cub or Case dealer anywhere near me. I may just make my own gasket and get this done.

Jumping back to this.
Pulled the rear cover off to drain fluid. Fluid was Burgandy color, like trani fluid. Is Hy-Tran this color?
No heavy gluey stuff in there in fact it looked nice, no buildup on the bottom of the Diff but look at the Gelatin type bubbles on all the metal surfaces. I wonder if this is moisture and this is what was freezing in cold temps keeping the tractor from moving.

Tony,

It may all be in the filter, plugging it up. Gets sucked in from the bottom of the rear end and then plugs the filter.

New filter and fluid is always the 1st step......

17 degrees , when I got home from work. about 6" of snow. Fired up TUG and crossed my fingers as I moved the Hydra lever,,, Houston we have GO.

Whatever the cause, Filter clogged or interesting Purpleish Fluid... It was mobile in 17 degree temps.. I'm a happy guy. NOT TO MENTION.. plowing my driveway is so much more pleasant then the walk behind blower when the winds are whipping and don't know what direction they want to come from. My new little backlights work great plenty of light for backing up now.

Likely plugged filter. Glad your hydro is back in the game!!!!!

I started the 2072 last night (7 deg outside) and it responded to hyd. (power steering) within 10 seconds. With the right filter and good fluid they are pretty tough and reliable units.

Glad yours is back in the game.

Woke up to touch up another few inches that fell during the night.. about 9 degrees.. still good.. Very happy guy hen pecking at the keyboard right now. I was hoping whatever goop was freezing up wasn't 'stuck' in the Pump section. I didn't want to disassemble. Happy it started in that temp. The Cub was outside all night
