I have a 129 with an electric lift for the mower deck. I have the feeling that the travel of the lift is too short. Is there a way to check and adjust the travel?

Mike, you have a computer..google "adjusting deck lift on cubcadet 129" all kinds of deck info

Electric lift on a 1x9 is pretty uncommon...this is not helpful at all.

In what way is the travel "too short?" Not lifting the deck off the ground, or not lowering it very far?

Not much to adjust. If the lift stop cam is in place, it will prevent the deck from lowering past a certain point, depending on how it is set. About the only other thing would be the slip clutch is slipping at too low of a load. Take the frame cover off and observe the operation of the actuator throughout its range of motion. Remove the deck and see if it operates normally. There is some info on adjusting the slip clutch in the service manual.
