Born and raised in N.E. Indiana and never saw a Bald Eagle until today. (51 yrs.)

Sorry for the crappy pics, but I was driving in my car and it's just an iPhone. Very cool to finally see one. I have heard in the last few years that there has been a few sightings. Very rare here.

Shultzie, Congratulations on finally seeing one! They are impressive birds. I see them all the time, not as often as Charlie though.

Shultzie, That is really cool!!!! I'm from East Central Illinois, originally, I'm in Central Indiana now... but, when they expanded Lake Vermillion in Danville, they flooded a section of woods that was beside the lake. Once the trees all died out, and just have the trunks left in the air, a few Bald Eagles have set up a nesting site in the trees.... It's really cool to drive down the road that is now the north end of the lake and see the HUGE nests and the Eagle's perched up on a trunk, surveying "their kingdom"..... hard to believe just how BIG an adult Bald Eagle actually is......

A shameless plug here for the National eagle center in Wabasha MN. Up close and personal with eagles. Got to see one feeding right in front of me. And veterans get in free.

I posted some photos I took of an eagle eating a car kill deer back in January 2011. Charlie hosted the video I took of it. HERE'S A LINK TO THE THREAD You can see how big it is compared to the deer.

They are very common in the winter along the IL river near Peoria and further north (Starved Rock).

I see 2 almost every morning perched in a big tree over looking the water from the bridge I cross to get to work.

Cool! That deserves to have photos posted in higher resolution:

Thank you, Kraig. Quality trumps quantity.

Hmmm, that makes me think of a guy I know that has so many Cub Cadets that he can't keep any of them running right. I see him every morning when I look in the mirror.
