Hi I need help with a fuel problem. My Cub Cadet 1782 Diesel would not start .I did not hear the fuel pump working. When I started to check out the problem I noticed that the fuel filter that is about 3 inches from the fuel pump had just a little gas in it. Is that normal? After a few minutes I tried to start it and I could hear the fuel pump working again .It is starting good now. Does anyone know what the problem may be? If it is the fuel pump will one of the electric pumps like you get at the local auto parts work or do you need one like tyhe one that is on it? Anyone know where I can get a 3 point hitch for it?
Thanks For any helphttps://www.ihcubcadet.com/forum/clipart/happy.gif

First off, remove the tank, drain out the old diesel, and remove the screen filter(s) from the tank and clean all the gelled crap off. Reassemble with new fuel line, change BOTH inline filters, and put in fresh diesel with anti-gel additive mixed in. ALWAYS use anti-gel additive so you don't have to do this again. These are notorious for clogging up the screens with crap; replace the fuel pump if the above doesn't work. You'll have to bleed the injector pump after doing this.

There are 3-points on ebay every so often.

You should get a service manual and owner's manual if you don't already have one.

Wayne S: I strongly recommend that you read and re-read then heed the advice you just got from Matt G. That fuel advice is sound (BTDT) and you definitely will need the manuals. FYI: There is a separate manual for that diesel engine.
