Trying to remove the inside of the dist. dust cover. Will not come off. Seems to be stuck or is there something that holds it on. ? Should it free spin on and off, or does it have a "keyway" and will not spin ? Took off rotor

and but black cover will not come off.. (Picture attached )

I guess it would run without it. I am thinking I have one of those distribuitors on a Moline that I had to leave that cover out because I wanted to use the Delco condenser to more closely match the coil. It does help keep moisture away from the points, though.

You could also probably find on on Steiner Tractor parts (.com).

Thanks. I chipped it up quit a bit getting it off. I needed to get to the points to check voltage inside. The points were very corroded. The tractor is not firing. It has been sitting outside for about 6+ years and has not been started up for that long. I do have 12 volts coming to coil and out ( going to side of dist) , but no fire to plugs. How can you test or check the coil output going to center of dist. Cap ? With Ohm meter or volt meter ? Thanks so much for your help ! Je
