Gerry, thanks for sharing that story. I agree with Cathleen's comments.

I haven't any pics but my little Millie discovered what yellow jackets are today. We were out by the soybean field where I really have to watch her. She did her disappearing act and I had to go out trompsing through the beans. When I found her I just herded her back towards the edge then I walked towards the house. They (She and Barney) usually just follow me and hang around but Millie was POd from being run out of the bean field so she lagged behind. I watched and she eventually started getting closer so I went my way figuring she would soon follow. About a minute later she comes flying by Barney and goes under the truck. I see her attacking her backside with vigor then she takes off again for another hiding place. I knew right away she had found a nest. It took het about 30 minutes to calm down and I eventually got her back in the house. Graygirl was just silently laughing off to the side the whole time. I later went and discovered the nest at the base of a big pine tree in the back yard. It was exactly where I saw her run from. It will be gone tomorrow.

She and Barney are both napping now. It's what they do best.

Wayne, OUCH!

Now for some regular stuff. A while back I mentioned that our feral colony was due to be spay/nutered. Well a few weeks ago the Cat Lady, Wendy, caught all 11 of the outsiders, 10 have been returned to the back yards. A Mama cat and her 6 kittens plus 1 we didn't initally know about are now on our front porch. Mama and kittens being weaned from each other, and mom soon to be fixed and released. Hope she likes the outside, she seems to have been a little domesticated in her time here. Ya know, food brought to you, no holes to dig, the humans clean up the 'mess', and a warm dry place to sleep.
The kittens are fun and growing, they will be going to a cat rescue organization who will have then spay/nutered, shots and put up for adoption. There are 2 my wife and I would love to keep, but with 8 already in the house and 11 outside its kind of impossible. But here are a couple pix of the little ones.

Wayne, your Kids are always into something. poor poor Millie though and her sore behind. I had to sit and giggle though at your comment about Graygirl sitting off to the side laughing about it. that was to funny and oh so true.!

Allen S. Oh, I want the kittens.ALL of them. LOL. Not really. They are so adorable.I loved the pic of the wee one in the hammock. That's great Wendy, your ' catlady' tends to the feral population. Wish every community could do that.

I went to visit a friend I hadn't seen in 6 years yesterday. she lives in the country and of course always has outside kitties, and she had 6 kittens, about 4 months old outside. There was 4 black ones, a gray one like Wayne S. Graygirl and a gray tabby. I would love to have taken home the gray one, but quickly but that NO in my head. It would have been to old to easily introduce and we don't need another kids. I also called my friend who had the cat, Sweetie who was 22 years old and I took my camera as I was going to get a pic of her and so I stopped in there too , and when I quickly asked how she was, I found out she passed away the day before Labor day. I felt so terrible and so so sad. It sure hurt my heart and it is a fresh wound for my friend. its been just a month..dang it all. She failed just the last two months I guess. I saw her this summer and she was doing well, but I ' felt' then she probably didnt have a whole lot of time left. sigh.

Cathleen-

I saw where you got gotten by the elk hunter/mountain lion hoax in the other thread so I'm sending a warning with this one. If you watch it a couple of times you can see where the cat (looks like Graygirl) is actually working backwards. However, it's a pretty good, convincing job.

I hope it comes out ok for anyone viewing.
