It's only the 4th one I've run across. So I had to have it.

yes Charlie most of the 1250,s I have run across have had manual lifts, thats why I guessed 14 or 16.

I see it has headlights how about rear lift?

Jeff,
No rear lift casting.
But we got all loaded up and ready to go and the guys 90 something dad walks out and ask if he gave me the other two boxes of stuff that came with the 102's.
So the kid 65+, goes to the shelf and brings back 2 boxes and says here you go.

And no I didn't tell him that the creeper wouldn't fit the machine!

Jeff,
I pretty sure hydraulic lift was an option on 1250's and standard on 1450's and 1650's. The same for the 129's and 149's,169's.

Kirk L. Fantastic pictures!!! Thank You for posting them.

Everyone have a beautiful Cub Cadet filled weekend. I'm off to work. First overtime in quite awhile. It'll help with the bills.

Congrats Charlie. Nice haul there. What does that creeper fit?

CHARLIE - I'd be real scared of a CC sitting on a JD dealer's lot. Somebody stupid enough to trade a CC for a JD doesn't know anything about equipment.

Plus he probably wanted to charge you a Buck a mile to deliver it!

Nice find on the two boxes of spare parts....

T.G,

Yes the 149, 1450 and 1650 had hydraulic lift and Headlights Standard.

The 169 had headlights, but hydraulic lift was an upgrade option on them. The did not come standard with the lift, but had a ported pump. You could buy a kit to add the lines, cylinder, handle, and instructions on how to configure the hydro to run the lift.

All other hydro wideframes were manual lift / no lights, but could be ordered with either / both. There was also an electric lift option for the wideframes also. It mounted in same place as the hydraulic cylinder.

Scott,

Early 169's didn't have hyd. lift std. due to a parts shortage, but later models did come standard with it.

In taking apart my 104 I have noticed that the shift lever will turn 360 degrees freely. It will go into the gears but I am looking for a heads up on why or should it do that. This is a project that I have taken on and am just tearing down to see what I am dealing with. Any help would be appreciated. Tim P.

TIM - That problem has been discussed several times here. The problem is in the shifter tower the shift lever goes thru. If you do a search for "broken gear shift lever" you'll get hits of the discussion we had about a month maybe six weeks ago.

There's two stampings inside the shift tower that are spot-welded and after 45+ yrs the spotweld breaks. I've always tried to be real gentile with both my GD's so that doesn't happen.

The shifter is held onto the top of the transmission with eight small capscrews, requires removing fenders, seat, then pull shifter cover.

This is Nolan. He,his father and his older brother Griffin came by today for a tractor ride. Griffin always insist on riding with his father so Nolan's my tractor buddy. We take two cubs like they were a poor mans four wheeler and go all over the property. Damon, the father is trying to bag a ten pointer he's seen on many photos from a game camera so they've been coming out often to set out corn. Damon has a 1450 he's going through right now at his house. They live about 45 minutes away. We ended up splitting a little wood too since it was a fall-like day here.

Nolan and Griffin will probably be on here posting in just a few years. I plan to set them up with a tractor each someday...heck, maybe the whole collection.

Dennis, thanks for the heads up on the shifter. I have things here that keep me going full time and do not have the time to have seen that it was discussed earlier. I was merely asking a question which was "on topic". I apologize if it has been discussed previously. From this point on I will be sure to search before asking anything. TIM P.

Timothy-

I saw a good write up recently on how to repair the shifter but I can't find it. It's not a difficult repair and I've yet to need it done so I can't help any further. Keep searching and you'll find it. Matbe someone that knows the whereabouts will chime in.

Good luck!

Melody-

Both of them "yungins" will be cubbers no doubt. I should have posted a pic of Griffin too but he was working the splitter valve for his dad (at four years old).

Hey all, forgive the late hour, college work has been killing me (just finished an eight page synopses on environmental policy) anyhow today the 1466 mini and I got a good workout relocating a massive rotten wood pile and I noticed the smell of hydro fluid a little stronger than the usual and I noticed that one of my relief valves was leaking out on the top around the plunger button doohickey (technical term). Its not a severe leak but its still a leak, any remedies other than replacing the valve?

Glen - You might take a flat srewdriver and push it down a few times like you're trying to play tiddly wink (another high tech procedure) letting it slip off and let it pop up a few times to see if it'll seal.
Then it'll be time to replace if that doesn't work I guess.
