Digger,
What is the "Princess"? Some experimental Cub Cadet? One-of-a-kind?
My Home Depot hasn't put anything on sale yet. I did put a bug in their ear though.

Tedd,
Looks like a midnight raid on Charlie's place is in order.
Digger... after our "visit".

ART - You must be way too young to remember "COPPERTONE"

Kraig... NO.... The Brown-ish kitchen appliance color......Maybe they called it "Bronze-tone" or ???....Our first house had a rather old (10+ yr) gas stove that color....and We bought the place in the fall of '79.

Demolition of the former Brinly-Hardy complex at Preston and Main streets in Louisville is under way, with up to 80 condominiums to be constructed on the site and ready for occupancy by late next year, the developers say.

Steve Blunier,
I finally got around to using all the good info you submitted on adjusting and tweaking mower decks. I spent quite a bit of time and effort in rebuilding my 48" deck for my 147. New bearings, seals, baffles, and blades. It now cuts GREAT. Before it seemed to cut on three different levels. One more question for you. You mentioned reinforcing the deck. Do you have pictures you could post to show some ideas that you or others have tried with some degree of success. I did reinforce the rear hanger bracket area and installed a rear anti-scalp roller.

Charlie -

I tell ya, that thing is absolutely useless. I NEVER use mine. Of course, that might be because everytime Tedd touches it, it breaks!

Might as well let me throw yours out with mine down here, eh?

Seriously, if you figure out where one can get replacement sections, etc, let me know. F&F and F-F don't have anything close. I have had some discussions with "the grump" about the possibility of casting them if necessary, but haven't gotten to the detail stage yet.

Who, me break something.......

I resemble that remark!!!!

I keep forgetting to go to the Depot to see what is what....

Bryan,
It may be useless, but it's still cool lookin! grin
And from what one old timer here in town says, he thinks he knows which sections they used and is sure he has some. I hope he's right. Now all I gotta do is find me another NF to dedicate it to. Like I need another Cub, sigh!
Gonna have to be a slanty grill though, snicker

Digger: thanks for the informaton. My daughter lives about five minutes from Mcmaster-Carr in Aurora, Ohio, My son-in-law said he will run up there and pick up what I need

In southeastern Va with two CCs

Charlie -

LOL, believe me, even at 30-some years, the blades on mine still cut like a son-of-a-b...

Besides, it keeps the neighborhood kids in line

Tedd -

The one thing I really disliked about the Brinly box blade was their decision to put the weight bracket at the BOTTOM of the blade, whereas Agri-Fab weighted theirs at the top. Nothing like dragging a few cinder blocks through the area you just scraped...

What material are those segments made out of, Bryan?

I know that if I get my hands on a 'good' part, I can have a pattern made really easy (not cheap, but not bad), and I have suppliers that do economical casting in moderate volumes.

FWIW- If a stronger part is in order, then it'd be more appropriate to make a pair of dies and have 'em forged... a bit more expensive, but a whole lot more durable. I assume they're held on with rivets or screws (like the sickle I ran on my grandpa's AC D17?)

Charlie,

The only reinforcements I have made one a 48" deck have been to the rear hangers...sorry I can't give you more info.

Haven't had too much Cub time this summer.....too busy with exterior home improvements.

House finally has the second coat of stain applied and the new shutters installed. I still have to paint the trim and the garage door, but the main part of the job is done!!! Sheds are in the process of getting stain now.

New fence, roof, and gutters round out the summer's home improvement work (and killed a big chunk of the Cub budget too!!!!)

Took a break from staining over the holiday weekend to go to a toy show. Picked up the new 1st Gear IH 433 Pay scraper.....NICE!!!!!!! Goes well with the pair of TD-25's (I still need to get the forestry version).

Pic's.....

Steve Blunier,
Thanks for the reply. I thought sure someone had posted a picture of reinforcement they did on their deck. As I recall, it was some kind of bracket over the top of the discharge end of the deck. I will check over the photos I have downloaded over the years and see if I can find it.

Frank,
I know exactly where Franklin is. I go through there every summer on the way to Chesapeake Bay fishing.

How is the Cub hunting up there?? Might have to go up there when the "season" is open.
