Jim,
That IH logo was used for only about a year durring the WWII years. I want to say 1942. Only seen that once before, other than reference material, on a Farmall Ad. Hadda' have it.

Ted, I'll bet that thing is really fuel efficient.

Whoop-whoop-whoop...Correct Police, pull it over Tedd.

Those are incorrect fasteners on that front grill casting for a 1x9 tractor.

<font color="ff0000">Norm, your posts are making it fine, what you're doing wrong is posting ads to the open forum. And now you've posted a "test post" here. We've already sent you e-mail and left notes here about this. It's even in red letters at the top of this page!</font>

Been getting some emails containing viruses with the subject "forum notify". Just passing it along.

Tedd:
I think he mentioned once (although quietly) that he already has green. Try blue. . .

I've had several emails asking about my throttle shaft repair method so here's the story,
I was at a tractor show years ago and ran across a 40 year veteran of Kohler that headed the return/repair/warranty division and he told me about what they did for throttle shaft repair and also sold me the little do-hickies to do it with.

So you have a worn out throttle shaft hole!
21341.jpg

You take one of these little multi layered washers.
21342.jpg

And insert it into the carb body hole.
21343.jpg

And you end up with a tight fit for your throttle shaft that will last for years and years because of the multi metal layered washer.
21344.jpg

I did my first one 5 years ago and it's still tight and even if they do wear out, just pop the washer and install a fresh one. There's no need to use any adhesive as they are a tight fit.
And if you have a real bad shaft, and the carb body is still good you just use two washers to take up the slop in the shaft.

Green? Nope, only green here is a 1/64 scale Art's Way grinder and the 1/16 scale Precision JD 110...

Well, maybe you mean the rattle cans of JD Blitz Black?

Charlie-
Last time I did a throttle shaft rebuild I think the Kohler kit contained brass/bronze bushings for the throttle shaft.

So, are you gonna tell us where to get the special "unobtainium" washers?

Art, I think Car & Driver has a copyright on "unobtainium", they used it several years ago in an article on a Mercedes. IIRC, the line was something like "....it's carved from a block of solid unobtainium." I won't tell them you used it though.)

Charlie, sooooooo, where does one get these, ahem, washers?

Tedd, CUBGRATULATIONS!!!©

Hello
I am still new to Cub Cadets and have a question about the steering gearbox. Will a steering shaft and gearbox from a 100 model fit on my 108? Mine has a lot of slop in it. I talked to a gentleman over the weekend who has a nice tight one from a 100 that he will sell cheap. Are the splines the same so I can use my original wheel? Thanks for any info.

Jeremy, I believe they are different length, I don't recall which is longer. Why not just rebuild the one from your 108? It's quite easy to do. Check out entry #14 in the FAQ Richard C. did a great write up on it including a nice upgrade.
