I know a vise works good, I've done 3 or 4 like that. Especially when the roll pins and driveshaft is rusted together and need cut off. Its not something that I need , more like a want. Probably will use the grade 8 hardware , even though its a little over kill . Its what I have sitting around the garage.

Driveshaft assembly-
When I built the Wheatland I bypassed all the fuss compressing the spring: take a McMaster 61005K133 coupling backing up the spring (lots of surface area there, it won't slip) and a face-mount shaft collar like McMaster 9677T23. You can use the two holes in the collar to compress the spring and the coupling.

In fact you can leave the collar on the shaft and use it to adjust spring tension after the driveline is installed.

No need to endanger your fingers or send an assembly across the shop, bolt in and go.

Wyatt,
I'd like to see some pics of that.

Here's our future snow blade operator @ 18mos.
May not be on the 126 though, at least not yet!
I think they both will relegated to observing for a few seasons yet!

Wyatt... I guess I can try one , I've heard some people like them or they don't. I'm not putting a heavier spring on it . That Wheatland was nice.

Hello, i have a 127, have had it for 20 years now and it has run great. had to have the generator rebuilt 2-3 years ago and it 'went' this past spring. Had it rebuilt, and two months later it was not generating. When i brought it in to the tractor repair shop (great people) they stated that the generator essentially had overheated and literally melted. they have not been able to find the problem. the harness is relatively new, new solenoid, starter switch. does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong. thanks

Mike W.
Welcome to the forum!

You didn't mention anything about the voltage regulator.
What king of voltage is it throwing out?

And they should have been able to tell you the first time, WHY it wasn't generating.

I wonder if the starting circuit stayed engaged. I had a Simplicity do that and fried the s/g in 2 hours.

Everyone on the road today, drive careful and be safe!!!

thank you for the welcome, this is a great site, and i like my cub cadet, a lot. a guy from Kansas told me about them and he was right. the voltage regulator is fine apparently. however, the shop thinks exactly what Earl said, that the starting circuit is remaining engaged. If this is the case, what is the solution?

Since it's OTF and there's nothing else going on, and the 782D has been doing nothing for the last 7 years.
I always a black Cub, so I figured I'd got for it, for this winter anyway, LOL
2- 72 pound starter weights on each wheel and a 100 pound on the rear.
Add some 2 link chains and get the cab on, and I think it's ready for a little snow!

Charlie, I like it! I'll stifle my "black is beautiful" comment, though. A few decals, some pin striping, . . . you could start a trend!

Charlie, I like it! It has an AGH "Anti Glare Hood" like my #2 125, but my 125 has yellow and white elsewhere, oh and rust...

Got the command cub running, these twins has a nice to it. But on my drive shaft, the pin likes to come out, should i put it in the opposite way or would a new pin stop come out? I will also to adjust my neutral.

Your not going to believe what I have headed my way after all these years!

Charlie - geez, it's almost to late for me. I hardly ever remove any roll pins anymore. Still will be nice to see you list them on your site.

Now, here's one for the books. I just ran across this on GREEDBAY. At first it looks like a nice Creeper, but if you look closely at the pic you might notice the front seal is missing.

Charlie - do you think this will leak even tho it has a sealed bearing?

What's also interesting is the bottom statement in the listing states the following:

We test our parts then they are cleaned and inspected to insure you don't go through all the trouble and expense of buying a part only to have it fail prematurely because we missed something. We don't sell anything we wouldn't install on our own machines. Please read our feedback and you'll see why we were awarded ***** highest rating, reserved only for those sellers who have a proven track record of honesty and the highest integrity.
