Kraig-
It's a Ruger M77 MKII 30-06, stainless barrel w/ laminated wood stock, running 59gr Hodgdon H4350 with a 150gr Hornaday Interbond, Win brass and Federal Gold Match primers, Nikon Buckmaster 3x9-40, I can get 1" groups at 200yds, it's set to zero at 300 yards. . . . techicalities aside the antelope know it as freight train on a stick

And yes, I'm a lefty. I'm holding out for my next rifle in hopes that Thompson Center starts making the Icon in a LH version.

"It's a Ruger M77 MKII 30-06, stainless barrel w/ laminated wood stock....(and)....Nikon Buckmaster 3x9-40".......

Wyatt!!!!

That is my dream gun!

Wyatt, I was thinking it was a Ruger M77. I've got 5 Ruger M77s that I inherited from my father. Four of the five are the MKII model in stainless, a .338 Mag w/Leupold scope and composite stock, 7MM w/Weaver scope and composite stock, .280 Rem. w/Simmons Master Series scope with laminated stock and .30-06 w/Pentax scope and laminated stock (it has the RMEF logo laser etched into the stock) the 5th is an older blued model in .338 Mag w/B&L scope and walnut stock. They are all very nice rifles! I think my favorite is the older .338 mag, I prefer the tang safety on this one over the 3 position safety of the MKII. I don't however like the B&L scope, I don't care for the short eye relief

on a .338 Mag! I think I might buy a new scope for it and move the B&L to one of my lesser caliber rifles, it's a decent scope just not for a high power rifle.

The Nikon Buckmaster 3x9-40 is a very nice scope! I have one of those on my Ruger 10/22.

Wyatt, I've never tasted Antelope, is it any good?

Here's the stock on the RMEF M77

Kraig-
Like most animals, but especially true in this case; it's all in how you take care of the meat. Antelope is very sensitive to getting skinned and cold ASAP. I have the hides off mine within 3 hours of harvest. The recent two I've had the luxury of being able to pack with snow right away. I've had many people (and quite a few that claimed to dislike antelope or deer) shocked to know they weren't eating steak.

Wyatt, sounds good!

That looks like a fun hunt, beautiful country to be out in. Approximately where in SD is that? Is it public land or are you hunting on private land?

I'm envisioning a new event here. Let's say it's a 3 day excursion.

Arrive the first day and plow that night. Swap Meet and PD the second day until about noon, maybe 1:00pm then do an evening hunt that afternoon.

The next two days are hunting days which end the 3rd afternoon with a "bonfire/cook-out/B.S./trade hunting stories" session and then we all go home the next morning.

Wait a minute...

Day one: "Arrive the first day and plow that night."

Day two: "Swap Meet and PD the second day until about noon, maybe 1:00pm then do an evening hunt that afternoon."

Day three: "<blink>The next two days</blink> are hunting days which end the 3rd afternoon with a "bonfire/cook-out/B.S./trade hunting stories" session and then we all go home the next morning."

Unless my counting is off "Day three:" is actually two days????

Art, have you ever considered politics as a vocation?

Day 3 should have read: "Hunting day which ends in the afternoon with a "bonfire/cook-out/B.S./trade hunting stories" session and then we all go home the next morning."

After that comment about going into politics, I think you're officially "NOT INVITED"!

Art, too bad and here I was gonna let you use the Ruger, RMEF M77 MKII, .30-06....

Art, I can lend you my Daisey pellet rifle if you get real desperate for something to fire.

But dont use it for deer hunting, as you woun't really get 'more bang for your buck'!

There's just nothing like throwing some bacon-wrapped backstrap on the grill when you're finally done packaging up all the meat.

Allen-
Thanks, I've got the "firepower" thing covered, but it's nice to know you have "backup" if needed.

Here is my son with his first dove/first kill.

Three birds came over the top of him, he fired 2 times, and dropped this bird (the 2 years of trap shooting have been good for him). He was using his 20ga. Remington 870 Express that I gave him for Christmas 3 years ago

Bill, congrats to you and your son! Dropping that first bird is quite a milestone not to mention a confidence booster.

2008 Ohio Archery Season Deer. It is a 9 point, due to the fact that one brow tine is missing! (never grew)

Rob, nice buck, and harvested with a bow to boot! Interesting that the one brow time never grew.
