1, check the contacts inside the regulator, one or more of them may be stuck.
2, If you ran it for 3 days with the Field wire connected to the Bat terminal of the regulator, and vice versa, you didn't do the generator any favors and it may not be charging the battery.
3, You talk of wires connected to the top or bottom of the regulator, make sure the wires are connected to the correct terminal. The terminals on your regulator may not be in the same position as the original regulator. In other words, the terminals should be marked as to what they are, and the yellow wire should go to the FLD or FIELD terminal, the gray wire to the BAT or BATT terminal, and the blue wire to the GEN terminal. There may also be a GND or GROUND terminal, make sure the blue GEN wire is not connected to it. These terminals may not necessarly be in the same place or location as the original. If your regulator is a generic one from NAPA or some other source and does not have the terminals marked, get one that is marked so you know where to connect the wires, and one that is correct for the application.

To add to what Roland said, you mention new motor mounts, are they real Cub Cadet mounts or did someone replace them with another type of rubber mount?

If they are Cub Cadet mounts you don't want to tighten them down too much. I usually just tighten them to the point they are just touching.

New Iso Rubbers will never be as good as the original ones.

If you use a hard rubber substitute then you will have to live with the vibration.

Roland-
Not to get too off topic, but what program do you use to make the drawings you post here on the forum?

They're always easy to read and well done!

Hey Guys,
1st time posting here!
I have a question for you all.
I have a friend that is looking to have me put a snowblower( model 350 ) on a 1720 and he dont have the bracket to do so, can anyone help me out?? I need to know part number and maybe a picture of one. Im not asking to buy one here just dont know anything about cubs YET!!!

Rick

Rick, welcome to the group. Look above and find "CubCadet Parts Lookup". On the first screen input 1720 for model, then pick serial# u have. Then Illustrated Parts List> Attachments> 350 24"snow thrower> Lift +Carriage. Gives you drawings+ numbers. Others will help when you find your exact needs.

Rick:
Welcome to the forum! - hope you find a Cub soon. The 1720 was not built by IHC, but rather MTD , and you'll probably get more responses if you repost the question in the section of the forum titled "CCC and MTD Machines & Equipment"

Rick, welcome!

(This should really have been posted in the CCC & MTD section of the forum....) Anyway, click on the "Cub Cadet Parts Lookup" button above and enter 1720 in the menu. This will bring up two choices choose of S/N ranges. Choose the one that matches the S/N of the 1720 you are dealing with. This will bring up a list on the right side of the screen. Click on the folder called "Illustrated Parts List", this will drop down a list of parts, click on the "Attachments" folder, this will open a new window click on the "350 40" Snow Thrower" folder and a list of part categories will drop down select from that list for exploded views and part number lists.

I typed too much.

Scott Stanton:
Tell grampa to turn the heat up a little - bead layin' on top of the pieces to be welded usually means no or little fusion underneath

Hey Kraig. You a politician ?? I see that you took 5 lines to tell Rick about his 1720.. I took only 2. Hope you dont write the instruction books for your company, could make great vacation reading !

Yeah I'm not really happy about the weld myself, but he did it about 5 years ago the piece he welded on is also folded around to the inside of the hood as well. I'm thinking of grinding it off and using a mig welder on it. He has one, brand new but never uses it, it's time I got it out for him!!

I also have some side to side play in the front wheels themselves, the bearings are fine. I have checked them out, it almost looks as though I could put another slim washer in there, is that gonna be okay to do?

Rob, not for sure, but look like simplicity weights to me.
