Matt:
Was there a competition for the David Letterman show going on?? I know they just had a screening here in our area for pet tricks. Ya know - it could have gone right on over backwards. You'd have made the cushion for it.

Kraig:
Well anyway, with a brittle axle, there goes my plans to turn the 149 into a wheelie machine......

Threw the fenders on tonight to check clearance to the rear 3pt arm, pondering how I can stuff a bigger battery in there... there is no clearance to move the rear of the battery tray rearward at the bottom.... I'll have to install the hydro to check out the front...

I surmise the front is gonna be tight, too... Grrr...

Art - I don't think Charlie ever did get the 169 finished before he moved north on us!!

Scott how long did it take you to sandblast that pan? what size air compressor do you have

BTW thanks for ideas and such about pushing dirt with cubs. I still dont really know how much strain it can safely take but I figure any time I have to take it to 'ramming speed' just to get it to move is probably not a good idea!

I want to get some ag tires or atv tires but I dont think I have time to wait until I need to be getting this project done so I might just hire it out again, well I have to have the guy do some of it anyhow which will be in the next week or so. But I might try filling one of my turf tires up and chaining it up and see if I can push any more that way.

Are those grader blades custom built or were those avaiable? I do have a gravel drive now I'll need to maintain. Was debating on getting a cat0 and box blade from extreme motorworks but man thats a ton of money. Think I'd be better off just looking for a Ford 9n or something that can take the real implements I can get locally...

TRSTAN - Chains on turf tires make a HUGE difference. Maybe if We ask KRAIG real nice He can post a pic or two of the factory approved attachment catalog that shows a couple belly blades. Good luck finding one. Other than a couple pic's posted here every one I've seen was home-made.

I know We discussed rear tires to death last winter for pushing snow. ATV tires seem to have an edge over ag's. Must be they're made from softer rubber or something. Even plowing they seem to pull better. But not sure how well they wear.

SCOTT T. - I think you will find that to fit a bigger battery you will also have to space up the seat pivots at the frt of your seat and also the rubber cushions the rear of the seat base sits on. Not sure on a 149 how much more room will be available between the frame rails but there is a couple inches below the bottom of the battery tray and the hydro. Been a while since I looked at putting a bigger battery in my old 129 I sold years ago. I have a 300 CCA L&G battery in my 982. There's a BUNCH of stuff encroaching on the battery location on it, the driveshaft for the rear PTO, lift link for the Cat. O 3-pt.

Dave,
It took about 4 man-hours to get it where it is... I didn't blast there the paint was ok underneath, on top it hit the lage surfaces with the D/A w/ 40 grit first.. I first hit the pan w/ the sandblaster w/ coarse, white playsand (w/ a hood, and respirator, of course
lazerburn.gif
) to really remove the paint wholesale, then switched to fine playsand for the rest..

The blaster I have is a gravity feed Speedaire from Graingers, w/ a 60 gal, 5hp, 1 stage Sam's club special compressor. I have to blast for 15 min, then do something else because of the duty rating of the compressor... No big whoop....

Dennis,
I found that a group 70 or 121 is squat enough to fit under the seat, nainly because of the side terminals. With these, the battery can fit above the pan a little, and protrude into the seat pan.... the foot print is the other issue, 8.25 inches wide max... depth stock is 6.25 inches, i was thinkink of widening this to get the bigger battery in, but it may not fly...

I was also thinking of another battery in parallel mounted ala' 147 under the hood, perhaps ovet the engine in a battery box...

Dennis-

I think the ATV tires are softer. I've got a set on my 582, and I was amazed how well that thing plowed with as little weight as I had on it. They are a bit worn, but still work well. I think they probably wear pretty quick though. For the $10 I paid for them, I can't complain too much though
