Charlie, nice digging! Hopefully he'll be able to find out all sorts of info on it. Would be neat to learn that you have one of the 12 units that was sent to <FONT COLOR="ff0000">I</FONT><FONT COLOR="000000">H</FONT>! Does that have a S/N on it?
 
One less Cub Cadet in the world...

I took the day off today to do some stuff around home. I had some junk that needed to go the the scrapper so I loaded the truck and took it in this morning. The scrap yard is a big operation and a division of Mervis Industries, so once something goes in it can't come back out. Right in front of the pile sat a CC 1250 that looked like it had been driven from someone's garage and parked there. It was complete except for the air cleaner, side panels, and deck. The 23x10.50 Goodyear Terra Tires looked like brand new. Paint was in nice condition. I'd imagine it was one of those "If I can't get $1000 for it I'll haul it to the scrap yard" kind of tractors. What a waste.

It's probably time to beg, borrow or steal. To save a good 1250, I think a story is in order, a sob story. It can go like this: "That's my late grandfather's tractor. He bought it new. It has sentimental value to me as granddad used that 1250 to drive through a blizzardly snow storm to get my mother, who was in the family way, to the hospital so I could be born. It got stolen a few years back and I have been looking for it every since......"

If it were me, I would find one of those ugly slant-grill tractors, load it up on the trailer and tell the guy you'll give him a crisp $50 bill if he'll trade you tractors.

It's the least you could do to save one of the "good ones".

On a similar note, there's a local scrap guy around here who usually finds one or two cubs each year. He spray paints a big "FOR SALE" on the side of anything and everything he's got. I've called him a couple of times, but quit because every derelict cub, even the ones with no engine and 4 flat tires, seems to be worth $900................to him.

ART - I wouldn't trade a double slant grill CC for a 1X50 but maybe a 129/149/169 or a red tractor. It'd have to be a SGT before I'd offer cash.

Have to agree, some of the scrap dealers I've seen I wouldn't want to even ENTER let alone do business with them buying stuff. although most scrap metal processing yards I've had experience with are really good to do business with.

I wouldn't think a CC would last very long against one of the rotor assemblies the one company I used to work for made. It ground a full size 1970's vintage car into grapefruit-sized chunks in about 15-20 seconds. A CC would be gone in 2-3 seconds.
