Now what?
The photo appeared when I previewed the post, but the photo didn't appear when I posted the message.

I think it worked that time, but the photo is kinda small. This is the 128 I spent all summer restoring.

Marty you got hit with what they call here the "archive bug". The last post on a "page" won't show any pictures. You didn't do anything wrong, a lot of people have been bit by that bug.

Here's my haul Friday. I traded a Wheel Horse C-141 Automatic with a 48 inch snow blade for this package. One complete running 123 with hydraulic lift (lever is broken off but can be fixed), another 123, engineless but was repainted a few years back, a 107 in pieces, a deck on the one 123, another deck, a snow blade, an engine block with the flywheel and some engine tin, some odds and ends. In all, 4 boxes of stuff including the grille and screen for the one 123, and it looks like the 107 is almost all there (might be missing the steering wheel, seat, and gas tank). I have the gas tank for the one 123.

Marty Allen Gwin,
You did a great job. It looks new.

KENDELL - DAD made a small peg tooth harrow for the CC 70 one year to harrow the garden, I forget what He plowed it with but I'm sure it was BIG and RED. A normal peg-tooth harrow has six cross bars with square pegs six inches long about every ten inches and the bars are 5-6 feet long. The 70 couldn't pull a full section of harrow even with DAD (225+#) in the seat so some re-engineering was in order. He ended up with three bars in a triangle welded together and some scrap steel for weight to make the pegs dig in. It leveled out & stirred the garden up pretty good!

My de-thatcher mostly came from the "Plumbing Dept" @ Blain's Farm & Fleet, with a quick stop in the ag. parts dept. The dethatcher attaches to the 3-point on the 982, raises & lowers with the mower, seems like it's 45" wide. And the teeth to dig up the thatch were the cheapest hay rake teeth F&F had, think they were 99 cents/ea. and there's a dozen of them. My biggest problem with the whole thing was deciding WHAT color IH's Paint Dept. Committee would have painted the thing. Since it's for the 982 it had to be 2150 red, the 1" pipe 45" long is semi-gloss black and the rake teeth were already white. Couple IH decals and it was ready for work!

I guess I'm too big a PACK RAT, never throw anything away, I just find ways of making yard care equipment with it so I can get more seat time!

Finished aerating yesterday about 1, hooked up to the rented fert. spreader and put 250# of winterizer on.

PAUL R. - Do You know We have to have "SPECIAL" non-phosphorous fertilizer here in Dane Cty.? Actually, I bet You DID know that!

Ah, the archive bug! Been bitten by that little creature a few times! Anyhow I figured out why my snow blade never sat level last winter and some of the dicussion that went on here about the "why's and how come". The front tires on the 106 are different. One of them is taller that the other, which I find odd because I bought them as a pair off of jipbay. I'm going to snag the tri ribs off of the 104 for the winter plowing season which I know are the same size. I also fabricated a new cutting edge which is a little bigger than the original one. It sure was fun filing round holes into squares! I used a 1/8 X 2-1/2 X 42 piece of steel and used the old edge as a template. Works pretty nice!

Terry Reed, thats a nice find!

Well guys i`am out trying to weld and grind
bash.gif
the bolt holes in my fenders. I think the po had a Cab on this tractor. I had way more weld on here than i needed and now know less is better. Less grinding is a good thing. Just one weld to redo. Just wish I had a some brass to make this easier. later Don T

I did not want this to be a refinish right now as I have my O to do. But I guess I might as well get the sand blaster out and clean up these fenders . Just one less thing to do when its time to paint this one . I got toooo many things to do lol

I forgot to add that I found a manual for the 70/100 mower decks and the IH rear blade last weekend.

On another note,i got the 127 tranny in the 147 and it works, but the trunion is on its last leg. hopefully it wil last the winter.

Don:
You'll typically have less problems getting paint to stick to the steel than brazing....

As I was cutting my lawn my 129 died. I do not have any spark. I am about to start looking for the problem and I also am going to install the new electronic points that I purchased. I have been reading the post lately and I thought that I saw someone post how to check a coil with an ohm meter. I have looked and looked to find that post but I cannot find it. Can someone me if I did see it or am I dreaming. Also if I did see it can someone tell me how to find it or give me the specs again.
Thanks for any help

SCOTT S. - re. Your frt blade not sitting level. Actually since the frt axle pivots in the center the frt tire size doesn't make any difference.
Blade not sitting level is effected by rear tire size/pressure, twist in the tractor frame maybe, or something bent/twisted in the blade mounting bracket or lifting linkage.

With 30-40 yrs of wear the blade may not be level when raised but it should be level when on the ground. I know My Qa-36 snow blower is like that.

Frank:
Thanks for the coil info. I found my problem. The rod that opens the points is not moving. I took off the points and tried to pull out the rod but it will not come out. I can move it about 1/4 inch and then it gets tight. I pulled the dip stick cover that is right next to the points thinking that I could see what is holding it. No luck as a gear is blocking any view. I am thinking that it is gummed up or bent. I have not had this engine apart that far before and the service manual does not give a good picture. Have you or anyone else ever come across something like this before. I am thinking it this is not good.
Thanks again

Pins do go out of shape from running on the cam, Just my .02

Kendell Ide
having said that the fenders are in bad shape by the foot plates. I do have fenders here off a 129 that a beat in the back but have good foot plates. Well I`am thinking some cutting in order. But first, well I have never yet found a time use for these. So I think I will beat at these a little first. Now if I only knew how hard the job would be(ideas) I might tackle it.

these might help, not sure, till I hurt my fingers!

Does anyone have the artwork for the hood decal of an Original in pdf form?

Earl,
Typically what happens with the pins are they will mushroom at the end where they ride on the cam. Most factory pins are aluminum. You can replace the pin with a steel one. Just put a visegrip on your pin and pull, twist or do whatever is needed to get the pin out. Then replace it. Try not to break it off--just work it out with vise-grips
