Christopher C. That is pretty slick! It would certainley make my life easier!

Last weekend I was tilling a couple of gardens and kept throwing my secondary belt. As you can see the upper pulley is misaligned.

I pulled the guards off and I spent some time pulling weeds.
96426.jpg

I clamped a straight edge on the pulley and the gearbox and verified they were aligned perfectly.
96427.jpg

It turned out to be a loose back bolt. I put a shim on the collar to straighten the gearbox and double nutted the bolt.

Not its straight again!

Terry,
That is great info, absolutly perfect timming!!My belt is doing the same thing...to the tee!To finish puttin the garden to bed this winter I actually moved the pully out where it is just hangin on the end of the shaft. Thanks!!!Question, how many links on your chain (to lift the tiller)and what are the link measurements? I Had to get some chain and fabricate the adjustment rod that changes the lift/depth height. When I got the tractor the chain was cut and it didnt have the adjusting rod. Ill post a pic.

DUSTIN - VR from a '57 Chevy only works on the Chevy, Not a CC. The fact the generator turns into an elec. motor to start the Cubbie makes the Chevy VR not work. I've had the best luck with VR's from Cub Cadet made by Delco. Shows how long ago I bought My last one! The VR I had on My 129 was made by STANDARD Electric and it worked very well for a long time.

KENDELL - Dad was a Kroil dealer so I got lots of free samples, but I actually find PB works as good or better. Judicious use of heat, a little tapping and reapplication of lubricant, and working the parts back & forth after they loosen is the key. I really don't think it matters what name is on the can. I've heard but never tried it, Melted candle wax is supposed to be really good too. Capillary action is supposed to pull it into the gaps between the two parts while it's hot and it won't burn or evaporate away. And compliments of work I have pipe taps up to 1-1/2" NPT so I can chase the threads once I get the old part out. The last exh. work I did on a Cubbie was the straight pipe on the 72 about 1-1/2 yrs ago. I used the two 5/16" tapped holes on the exh. port flange for that. When I rebuild the 10 HP for the 70 I'm putting the old salt/pepper shaker muffler I had on the 10 HP back on the engine. The straight pipe on the 14 HP in the 72 is just a bit too loud to keep peace in the neighborhood when I mow till WAY after dark. The Neighbors don't complain, just the CFO of My household.
