lol I see

. Yeah I'm learning.
My clutch/brakes just has me stumped. with the peddle fully up, in the "engaged" position the lever should be in line and almost touching the bearing? I don't see 5/16 of an inch giving me that contact back. and every thing is installed correctly on the drive shaft. I will see if I can get my lever's thickness welded up, the tractor is starting to kill my funds. My girlfriend doesn't understand why I keep "wasting my time" with this thing... she doesn't understand

Patrick-

As I said before, that lever is not worn enough to make a difference. I have see much more worn ones in functioning clutches. I can't see how the brakes would have anything to do with this, either, unless for some reason they are keeping the pedal from going all the way down.

With the pedal all the way up, how much space is between the throwout bearing and the lever? 0.030" or so is plenty.

Frank,

Would someone please tell me the reason for most of the cubs are painted yellow as my 4 are but some were painted red what was the reason behind this colour change Thanks John Sergeant UK

Cub Cadets were painted yellow early on (by committee decision before Original production) to align them with other Induatrial/Commercial products in the IH line (all traditionally painted Federal Yellow instead of the 2150 Red of the Ag line).

In an effort to build uniformity and more closely relate the Cub Cadet line to the Big Tractors in the Ag line, IH chenged the 82 series back to red in late 1979.

It was a good move, as the red 82 series looked just like minerature 50 series tractors from the "New Number One" series of ag tractors.

Matt- from what I could tell its about 1/4 inch measuring from the hump to the bearing, I have already started tightening the nut that adjusts the lever past where it was before. Its getting hard to turn, from the paint . The spacer with the grease fitting is for a different model correct?

Hey.. I have a question- is it possible to replace the plastic hydro fan with a metal one? My grandfather said that, since the plastic fan is just.. gone.. If I could get the dimensions of the fan, he could probably get a metal one that would work. I plan on fixing it so it won't "walk" up the shaft, of course..

I mentioned a week or so ago I had picked-up a spare K341 and it looks very much the same as the one on my 1650 (which is still sitting in the floor waiting on a cradle mod...

)

The engine/spec number from the 1650 is K341AQS / 60312d

The spare engine I've got is K341AQS / 71167a

Question is - what was the 71167a used on?

Frank A, thanks for your responce. I went out and purchased the three Anti-Rattle springs for my 125 PTO clutch. How and where are they installed? Is there an old posting on this procedure?
Tom

Charlie - thanks for the info. Good to know my spare engine (K341AQS - Spec 71167a) is out of a 1650.

I went back and looked at the engine that I pulled out of my 1650 and I made an error earlier in reading the tag. It is a K321 - not a K341

. I did a bit of searching and I am pretty certain that engine was used on a 1450 - which explains the direct bolt-in on my tractor.

Thanks Steve ( Mr Plow)
For the info on colours of yellow / Red Cubs
