Gary - Go right up to the Parts Lookup button and use it. You'll have to type in 44A though as they don't list the IH ST745 Spindle.

thanks for the carb specs, but the original Kohler carb was replaced with a Walbro.

WHG 7705308 731848

and I have the service manual for it.

I will put the governor spring back to spec and try carb adjustments.

Frank - Walbro setting is on that chart too.

Donald - I just about bet it's getting pinched when the young pup mounts it.

Gary - The exploded view of the spindle doesn't show anything that would be of any help. All I can find though in all of my info is 44C decks.
An air impact would be your best bet to get the nut off since it can spin it fast than you can.
Or if you don't have an impact you could put a good boxed end wrench on it or even a breaker bar and good socket (by good I mean 6 point) and pull it over tight then SMACK it real quick with a length of 2x4 or hammer to make it move fast enough to break it free. Just watch out for chins n shins!

govenor spring back to spec, playing with carb settings.
tractor will not stall if i keep the choke about halfway, full throttle, mower on. runs rough, of course.
which means too lean, correct?
so i should turn the idle adjusting needle out, a 1/4 tun at a time, then try mowing and see if it stalls, correct?
or would that be the high speed needle?

Gary/Ken-

That pulley is KEYED to the shaft; the hex is there so you can loosen the other nut. The pulley comes straight off. You'll probably have to remove the 3 nuts holding the spindle to the deck and then carefully pounding the spindle out of the pulley through the bottom of the deck.

Frank-

That POS Walbro is not helping. I'd lose that and put a Kohler adjustable carb back on it.

when i ordered a new carb, this was what they sold me, i assumed the kohlers are no longer available.

Kentuck

(I just about bet it's getting pinched when the young pup mounts it)

Whats this world coming to?I will take a pill in the am and do the next tube myself. That lesson has cost me $45.00 the first time and $33.45 the second time and I still have to fix it myself. Man I need a raise.
