A correction to my July 18, 2009 posting which was copied yesterday in regards to wheel bearings for a wide frame:

"I just checked the RBCBearings.com website and found the flanged bearings on page 57 of their catalog. After I wrote my first email I checked the other wheel and found it had a Heim RF122214AP wheel bearing. Seems the only difference between the RF122214 and RF122414 is the flange diameter (1.50" vs 1.625") and number and size of ball bearings." Actually there is big difference that I didn't notice until today. The RF122414 will not fit into the wheel hub because the bearing has a 1.5" outside diameter. The RF122214 has a 1.375" OD, and will fit the wheel hub.

"I found the Stens number is 215210, MTD 741-0141, and NAPA 7-04133. I just bought two NAPA bearings ($10.29 each) and they have a 1.50" flange and is sealed on both sides."

"Terry, you can give your 125 to me I dont have one at all."

Lucas,
I would, but I have too much money in it - I paid too much for it in the first place. I would have to sell it, but I know I would take a loss, maybe as much as half of what I paid for it. But it's all fixable, I just need to find the time to do so.

Roy - You better have it right this time , I don't want to have to copy'n paste again ... I'm sweating ! To much work for this early ...

Terry - You need more time ? Wally World has a display case full of little time pieces

Ryan D. Wilke, yes it hurt! and yes the sip sticks are on the side of the 14hps and the 12s i believe? but anyways i shouldnt have taken it through the woods like that in the first place but.... i had the lugs on it and someone told me i couldnt make it through this mud hole so i had to disprove that! she went through like nothing so i drive around the woods for about 20 min then came home and parked it next morning i fired her up to move the some logs with the cart and as i was cruzing down the road BANG! i was not a happy camper... but ive got no one to blame but myself!

Matt S - Are you sure it had oil ? An old friend of mine (122,127 came from him) has a son that ain't worth crap. He'd drain oil out of his dad's small engines to put in his car.
I bought a rear tine Ariens with 20 horse single cylinder (made w-a-y before Troy Bilt didn't think about it) that he had drained the oil from and his dad didn't check it before he started using it.

BTW that thing had a transmission that would put IH Cub Cadets to shame ! I wish I still had that critter ... I kept the head though.

Anyone know if NAPA sells bearings like the clutch throwout bearings? Also the driveshaft has a little wear but not too much. should I get another one or leave it? thanks

Josh-

Nope, CC is the only supplier of the throwout bearing. I'd replace the driveshaft if there is any wear. It's easy enough to make a new one, and then you'll never have to worry about it again.

Matt, Thanks for the info. I was afraid that would be the case. There over $20 from what i remember...

KEN - WAY back in the early 60's Dad used to have somebody rototill his garden with one of those Ariens rear tine tillers. They were a BEAST. I'm sure they weighed at least as much as the early Cub Cadets.

Matt
I hate to admit it but I once had a screwdriver enter one side of my palm and come out the top. I was cleaning a hole out with a screwdriver cover with a rag. I hate when that happens. But the lesson will last me a lifetime.

If that was my kid draining oil from a Cub I think Child Services would have had me lockup by now.
