Jerry, I believe the grader blade that Ranger Buck had was a Covina.

PHIL - Yes, You can mow with the deck raised all the way up. Been my experience with these older CC's with hyd. lift that the mowers tend to slowly leak down so if You want to mow with the deck totally raised up You have to hit the hyd. lever every couple minutes to keep it totally raised.

Phil, good to hear you have the leak fixed and your 782 is back together. Curious about the lower speed, must be something in the linkage that will be corrected when you get it adjusted. As for the mowing height, specs are cutting height from 1" to 4" but that was when the tractor was new, over the years the mower deck mounting points get worn and the deck doesn't lift as high. I seem to recall that Steve B. did a post a while back on correcting the lift height on one of his Cub Cadets (might have been his 782)

I'll see if I can find the post(s). Or perhaps Steve will see this and repost his info.

Thanks Kraig for the info on the deck height. I will check it out to see if I can possibly do some modifications.
Thanks,
Phil Wood

With that external mag, it must be from the 30's or 40's ???

Kendell Ide,
There was a time when he could have sold that mag for the price of another 7hp Kohler. I see the one on the tractor isn't wired up.

A wisconson on an original. Thats kinda cool. Do you all think it came stock? It looks like it did. If so, how did that happen and would it be a special edition or something?

No...not original. It should be a 7hp Kohler. I have thought about putting a Wisconsin TJD on my FrankenCub project. Now duel stacks on the left....that would be cool. Couldn't get it for what I wanted to spend...

This can't be good:

However, it gave me a chance to see how clean the top of the engine is:

Fortunately, enough spare parts were here to replace the head and gasket and finish tilling.
Of course, I had to be tilling for a neighbor, these things seem to hate to happen close to the CubHouse!

I'm hoping Don T. had better luck with his garden plowing experience.

Personally, I think if that Wisconsin runs good, the PTO works and the drive isn't boogered up, why change it (till it dies, which might be never...). It looks like all the work on it was done pretty well. IIABDFI.....

Come now Charlie, whats so bad about Wisconsin, at least it aint as cool as northern Minnesota in the winter.
