Chains make it easier to slide the tires on concrete..

Kentuck:
I've taken 70 pics so far, won't use 'em all....here's where I stopped today (had several other projects and a visit from my daughter and grandson). A little more pressure washer tomorrow and then pull the pump.

Kraig, My 147 serial #367445 and it also had a skid plate. When I restored it I used the new style oil suction line which hit on the skid plate, didn't look like it really needed the skid plate,so I left it off. I did put the fan shroud back on it,however.

Gerry; What's the # of that Fram filter?

Earl, If you have the grease filled gear box you need to remove the cover (you will need a new gasket) and check it. When I got my QA snowthrower a couple yrs ago the grease in the gear box was total crud.

Psssst,,,,, Frank C., I believe that should be a FRAM #PH2844.

I was just wondering if I could use a ported hydro pump from a 782 on a 127 to add hydro lift, by using the lines and cylinder and valves from a newer cub? I was thinking that maybe this could be done instead of using the actual add on style that I have seen used on the 127.

Hi Guys:

I am restoring several 38" and 42" cast end decks. Some of the spindles apparently require a different diameter hollow end bolt than others; my guess is that about half of them may have been aftermarket versions. My cub cadet replacement bolts are too big for these and I'm worried about finding hollow bolts that will fit. Hast anyone else run into this? Any insight here would be appreciated.

Napa filters are wix 51410 Wix 1410 napa 51084 Wix 1084 Napa. However the Wix 51084 or the 1084 napa are for the cast iron rear end tractors and then 51410 Wix or the 1410 Napa filters are for the aluminum rearends.

Charlie Broke It !

My 127 has a MOPAR filter ... I am very ashamed to type that ...

Steve S - If you are talking about the bolts with the grease zerk on top of the spindles the dealer still sells them , or did a couple of years ago. I just make my own from a bolt and zerk since I have a lathe.

Eric - Pump will as far as I know but you'll have to run a cylinder on the outside of the frame like they did with the electric lift.

KENtuckyKEN

looks like you had some water in the fuel tank for some time.

I use a small gas tank (plastic) off a push mower to run and test tractors when I buy them.Clean or replace that tank and you should be running. I think you will have to start with a good clean tank and then clean the Carb and set everything back up by the book, To bad you did not listen to all the posts made about how to get that tractor running correctly.

I see you have your Chains installed upside down! Is there a reason for that? Will you be replace that filter and a trunnion check also. I use washers on the cups in my tractors. have a good day.. Don T

Lucas - No fuel pump , carb to high for good gravity flow.

Donald - Chains on upside down helps keep from hanging the bent over hooks on the cross chains and main stringer from hanging on stuff. When I had chains on my homemade tractor I'd snag the hooks and open them up.

Lucas-

If you have a good tank, a good shut-off valve (including the screen), and a good fuel line why would you need an inline filter. These are gravity flow systems and I see no need for any further restrictions in fuel flow. One of the first things I do when I get into a cub is the fuel tank and shut-off valve. Once the carb is either cleaned or rebuilt I don't have to worry about fuel again and move on to the next issue at hand, usually checking for proper fire. I also feel if they were necessary IH would have lead us in that direction.

It's also a case of personal preference. If they work for you then go for it. I've seen them on several 1x8/9s, just not mine.

Morning all, I have a quick wiring question. I am putting an ammeter on my 100, and would like to know the proper way to wire it in. The previous owner cut the hole, but never wired it up. Any input will be greatly appriciated. Thanks, Bob

I have always been taught that there is no upside down or wrong way for chains. I rotate mine evey year to promote long life and even wear on both sides of the cross chains. It should be good for several more years of chain life before a broken cross link.

Of course this doesn't apply to chains with ice grousers ("V's").

Robert - The + side will go to + side of solenoid (battery to solenoid) and the - side will go to ignition switch B and regulator B.

Geez, now I gotta go look at the chains....

Charlie:
Yeah, well it was what I had at the time, the hydro works just fine and the Hytran is still looking good...
