Lyle:
I learned from a posting the other day that you want to make sure you just take out the four bolts that holds the pump to the differential, not the six that hold the pump together......

Wyatt, Christopher,
Here is the scoop; All cyclops models used super steer axles regardless of P/S or not. But there were two versions. Tractors 800,000 to 821,059 used one that gave the same front end height as all the earlier models. Tractors 821,060 and up used one with longer spindles which raised the height of the front end about 2". I'm using the earlier one in a 147 frame for my loader tractor.
The reason for the raised height was for use with the 48" and 54" decks to give more lift.

One thing I dissagree with on the FAQ post; I don't see replacment bushings for the spindles or pivot listed on either version.

Well, I may have answered my own question. The belt may be trowing due to the play in the extension spring. Going through the manual for the tiller, it talks about getting rid of the spring and spacer, but the illustrations look different from what I have. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of what the idler pulley assembly should look like after being modified for use with a tiller?

Todd-
The bushings are there (at least on both of mine), but I'm assuming that CC doesn't list them seperately. I replaced them on one of my axles and just used oilite bushings from McMaster.

Great point about the height of the spindles. I noticed the front end of my tractors sat heigher, but I can't say for certain which S/N range my axles were from.

Great info here, thanks! I kind of wondered about the axle height. I've got a set of wheels to fit the 1" spindles on order. I won't be able to check the height until they show up. It will be a bummer if it ends up 2" higher, as I don't think that will work very well.

bought a cub at the portland swap this weekend, its my first. Its a 1971 128...Runs great although i think it had been sitting in the weeds for a few years. Cuts great...

Thanks Richard! Do you know if these parts are interchangeable from the NF to WF? I can only locate this unit for a NF, assuming the cross bar would be too short to mount on the carriage I currently have. Thank again

Chris...if your worried about the extra hight in the front that just gives you an excuse to get the 26x12x12's for the rear ;)

Brendan,

I like your way of thinking, but then I'd need new rear rims, and I'd have to trim the fenders or raise the fender pan... It never ends!
