The pins on the rock shaft have been replaced by 1/4in bolts some years ago, I don't see any great amount of slop and any one component. are there more than one set of hole in the rock shaft?

My 1450 won't start.

I mowed with it Saturday morning, it ran great for a half hr and all the sudden it just quit. It would crank and crank but no go.

I have 12 vdc to the coil, i have fuel and it cranks. I unscrewed the spark plug to find small filings in and around the spark plug hole. I'm guessing the last person to work on it did not screw it back n right and got it cross threaded, so when I pulld the plug it created filings from crossthreadation.

I grounded the plug and proceeded to crank the engine over... no spark.

My two questions... where do I go from here and can I fix the threads, or do I replace the head??

All HELP APPRECIATED!!! =)

Trent: Spring is Springing and the Grubnubbits are migrating. Check your points for spark. Bummer on the cross threaded plug. The head can be Heli-Coiled, but I personally haven't had much luck going that route, even carefully following the directions. The K241, K301, and K321 heads are pretty much interchangeable, differences maybe being spark plug placement and high or low boss.
Your 6:07 post required me to answer - (Company 607, Great Lakes Navel Training Center). Good luck!

P.S. "Crossthreadation" - I just learned a new word! (Spell Check might not like it, but I do)!

Got a clutch question on this 126 I'm working on.
The 3 pin clutch driver...are the pins meant to be replaceable on these? If so, anyone have a part number or correct size? Came up empty handed on the parts lookup.

Thanks!

David,

They look like they are spiral pins,never changed them on any cub I owned but they look to be the 3/8 dia.

Trent, without seeing the threads, and what is left of them, you can try a thread chaser or a tap and see if they clean up, if they are badly damaged you can do a repair with a heli coil kit.

I've done a few and it works well, some folks prefer to replace the head but I'm a yankee so I'm "frugal"...

Lewis.. I have the IH part number wrote in an old parts book I have from when I worked at the dealer many years ago. I'll see if I can find it for you and get back to you. }

Frank: I'm glad you learned a new word because I just saw a word you need to explain...Grubnubbits. Never heard of them/ it!! Thanks for replying... I'll have to remember 607!! Does it matter very much with plug placement??

Mike: I have heard about heli coiling but have no experiance with it. The threads are goofed bad enoigh to see with minimal light. I don't know what size tap to use. Do you have an idea? Then what do I do with the.filings that drop n the engine? Or should I pull the head?

Thanks Guys!!

Lewis.. just went thru my parts book and didn't have any luck finding the part number. If memory serves me right, they are 3/8" diameter spiral pins. Can't remember the length. I replaced them once and you just have to make sure you block up the driver plate good so you don't warp it when driving the pins out. Sorry I couldn't find the part number, but i'll keep digging. }
