Mike, good save! had that happen on a motor also, you sure wonder how stuff like that gets in there!!!

While I was working on the tests Mr. Roessler gave me on the charging system of my 1980 IH 782, I wanted to see if by chance that my engine, a KT17 was in good shape by checking the pressure in the crankcase. Well, I was suprised to find out that the crankcase had so much pressure in it that it would blow my hand off the oil fill plug and cover it with oil in about 5 seconds. I don't understand why there is so much pressure inside the crankcase, why does my engine run so good. It starts up immediately, idles smoothly, does not smoke, has plenty of power, and is very reliable. I took off the air cleaner and checked the rubber breather hose and a slight bit of blow by comes up through the tube. The Kohler manual on the KT17 says that a slight negative pressure should be in the crankcase, but in my case it looks like there is alot of positive pressure. Is this engine about to explode or is something clogged up real bad? Seems to me if that much blow-by is in the crankcase, the engine wouldn't run so good or even run at all. What are ya'lls thoughts. Should I be wearing a flak jacket and a crash helmet when I cut my grass?

Mike-

I bet the PO had a "little" helper that simply put a bolt in a hole like he saw someone else do. When the rebuilt/fixed carb was put back the mechanics mind wasn't on looking for foreign objects in the block. I can't understand how that bolt would have gotten there at all. I've heard of several of the 10-32s getting in there but that's self-explanitory. You are lucky it went no further.

It might be time for you to buy a lottery ticket with luck like that.

I have a Cub Cadet mode 122 which is stuck in reverse. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Capt. Bob

Capt. Bob, WELCOME!

My guess is that you may have a bent shifting fork. You'll have to remove the fenders to access the shift lever assembly. Once you have the fenders off remove the 8 screws that hold the shift lever in place. The shift lever assembly should then lift off. This is what you will see.

The shift forks (there are two of them) are what the shift lever ball end fits into. Most likely one of them is bent or broken. If you go to the manuals section of the forum there is a Service Manual in PDF format that covers the 122.

HMmmmm... Is this thing on?? tap,tap,tap....

I just got back in from the shop. First time painting on some Slip Plate. Thought I'd give it a try after listening to so many of you using it.

Mike, I think everyone must be busy getting "seat time," I know I've had my share recently on not one, but two Cubs. (I'm proud of my collection.)

A question for the experts: Will the steering column from my parts tractor IH CC Model 1250 SN 2050650U454946* fit into my CCC Model 782 SN 2050601U714899?
Curious minds want to know.
