ROB F. - re lawn aerators - I built My own aerator about 20-22 yrs ago, pulls & lifts with My sleeve hitch. I'd call it "semi-mounted", so I can raise it up to turn on concrete driveways. I made it so I can add 300-400# of weight. There's seven wheels about 5 to 5-1/2" apart with pegs to penetrate the ground every 5-6 inches. With 300# I can get holes 3 inches deep in just about ANY condition. I attribute it to the general good condition of My yard and not having used fertilizer for about the last 12-14 yrs. I normally pull it with the 72 but the 982 pulls it real well too.
ROBERT - Brakes on Your 124 are "Wet Brakes" brake pucks & disc run in oil, in the same enclosure Your constant mesh reduction gears run in.

Art,

The closest thing I have found to those are Round head rivets. You would just need to drill the hole in it. The best place I have foud to get the larger ones like that are the Deere dealer. I buy the longer ones and cut to length as needed. I can get a picture for you tonight if you want to see one.

Thank-you all for the quick resonse. I did not want to get into additional word or beak something.

Thanks
Bob

John-
Thanks for the tip on those rivets. Actually drilling my own cottor-pin hole is not a problem as I don't like the look of the multi-drilled pins anyway, and the rounded head gives it a "vintage" look.

What should I ask for when I stop in at the Deere dealer? Just a "half-inch rivet"? (Do you know what they were used for by Deere and Co.?)

Thanks!

Couple of questions here: How rare a find is a good running 1650 with dual hydraulics?

Also have a friend who owns a 782 with a series 2 engine. We cannot seem to find a source of why the engine seems to running to fast (i,e, above 3600rpm) Cleaned the carb, checked the float. Do the governor's go bad on these engines? Any ideas/feedback appreciated.

Art, I just checked with my brother on those JD "rivets" he says he has some in stock.....

I need to repair the trunion on my 1250 sometime. I do not have a welder. I do have torches, but no real experience brazing.

Should I plan taking it to get it welded, or braze it myself (I am not afraid to try)? Has anyone tried to do this repair with JB Weld?

Thanks in advance!

Art-

Any reason you couldn't zinc plate that one you have?

Rob N.-

Somewhat rare. I had one, and there's a few other people that have them as well. They're around.

On the 782, check the high-speed stop on the throttle cable (on the intake manifold). If it's not set right, it can do this. My 782 had that problem. I had to readjust the relationship between the throttle cable, stop, and governor arm. Also, if you have long, thin fingers like I do, you can remove the oil fill spout and reach in there with your fingers and feel if the governor gear is intact. Just remember to disconnect the battery first.

Kraig, thanks for posting the pages on the internal brakes! I'm just now getting to that part and had no idea of how to get it all apart!

the # 2 tiller mounted on my 1200 is missing the bottom belt gaurd for the rear right angle gear is this important or not, it looks like a collection point for dirt to me

Ken F,

I would not recommend brazing on a Hydro trunnion arm as there's too much heat with brazing and you risk ruining the seal on the trunnion shaft (BTDT). If done properly welding back up the trunnion slot can be done quickly and with less heat, especially if you have someone good with a MIG.

does anyone know if the lense is replaceable on the hour meter for my 1200 or is the ring that holds the lense pressed on

A Google search worked for me.

It was made by Jacobson, pre 1795.
One very important development in rotary mowers has been the leaf mill attachment which eliminates leaf raking or disposal and at the same time adds valuable organic material to the soil.

They made 2 models. A 26-20A & 26-20M

Art, I'd go to OEM tractor parts. I think that is the same pin that is usd on the A,B,C tractors for attaching the cultivators.
