Mr. Boelens - don't make me mention that recent slight deviation from your publicly stated mission of owning absolutely nothing except NARROW FRAME Cubs with round fenders!

Is it wrong to purchase a said "wf" just to build the piggybank to buy another NF? lol

And trust me, the other 12 NF's will knock the black sheep outta the pen!

Hmmm,

My WF goats below must not care for sheep to much

I guess that is why the won't let a NF in the pen

Jeff,

That is a nice looking trailer for all those 1x's!

I need something like that for my 1250 Nightmare. Is that a kit that is available somewhere?

Sorry thats not a trailer for cubs,
it's my pull behind manure spreader

Jeff-
That's kind of a CRAPPY trailer... LOL

BTW, I got some numbers from Reggie today. You can cross him off your 'hit list' now.

Terry here is a picture of the old style cam with the spark retard. The thickest part of the points lobe points away from were the points push rod would be pressing on the points lobe. I transposed the timming marks to the back of the cam and crank gear and marked the thickest part of the points lobe in red also.

A few days ago we were talking about a hood catch for quiet lines. I can't find the thread. Anyway, a lot of us wanted one but did anyone commit to making them?
I'll give it a try if someone has a drawing of this.

Norm, here are links to two recent discussions on the hood catch:

LINK 2

Jeff, we may have to start referring to you as "The Enforcer"

Norm it was Charlie that had some made, and then I think Vincent was going to try to reproduce them.

Norm, I saved 2 pictures and was told it was made from 1"x2" steel. But it probably has to be tweeked for each application. I think It would work to drill a hole in both parts where they meet to insert a pin while your working on the tractor too to keep the hood from closing unexpectedly.

Jeff - Charlie had some produced IIRC, but I think Richard Christensen was the original poster of that hood catch..

Yes, that's the hood latch. I'd rather get it from someone who has the experience in making them, but, lacking that, I may try myself.

Thanks for the info...

Well, it started! The K241 I was asking about earlier in the week that I had issues with in my 100 is running now at least. I removed the bolt in the bottom of the carb and let out maybe half a cup of gas. It had some black crudd floating in it, so not sure if it was blocking something or just sitting in the bottom of the bowl? Then I removed the points cover and ran the brown paper back between the contacts like was suggested. The amount of black that came off wouldn't cover 1/4 of a penny if I was to coat it on one. I then crossed my fingers and rolled it over. It was slow to roll the first couple of time and after about 7 time it fired, caught and ran like a top!

So I stood in amazement to be honest, looking at it running. After about 2 or 3 mintues I put the air filter backer plate on and the points cover while running. The spark on the points seemed to be less bright, not sure if that is normal or not? The needle in the gauge on the dash was bouncing around as if it was charging, so that seemed good. I let it warm up for maybe 5 minutes and then took it out for a drive. I drove it down the road for maybe 1/4 of a mile at the most, turned on the lights too and they seemed fairly bright (the back one anyway, since I couldn't see the front ones). I then came back to the yard and just as I pulled up to the garage it backfired and went back into its spitting and spuddering mode like it was in last year. It would not speed up at all, only run at an idle. Then after about 10 more feet it coughed and shut down, then back fired. I waited maybe 30 seconds and rolled it over again, no choke on, and the black smoke came out the muffler and it seemed like it was back firing into the carb (more noisey on the left side of engine, that's why I say carb). I tried it a few times to get it to start again and each time it seemed like the black smoke would just nicely flow out of the muffler as if it was a chimney on a stove. Very soughty looking. So I pushed it into the garage and came in for lunch!

Anyone think there is issues with the valves? When it heats up they expand and they are dragging or sticking? Is this even possible? Should I be taking the head off to see what I find? Or is there something else? It seems when it gets warm/hot (the block) it acts up?

Any suggestions??

I like the hood latch for the Quietline as well. It would be nice if there was a shop drawing available for the piece so that we knew of the measurements between bends, degree of angle for the tubular steel cuts, etc. Does anyone have this, or is anyone who has made these willing to share their shop drawing or measurements?
