Ok, here goes with stupid question of the day. On the Original clutch assembly, is there an actual fiber clutch disc in addition to the pressure plates and pulley? Trying to figure out what I'm missing, if anything. Have two assemblies but not sure if either is correct. Thanks

Terry,
The clutch pulley has clutchy fibery stuff adhered to it on both sides. You can reline them.

As I have done many times before, I did the Hillman $0.90 throttle shaft bushing repair while doing a #30 rebuild today. That cheap fix is still sweet!

Found the spring.This was on a 147.

Tom I guess you have those little brass screws for the throttle plate?

Lewis,
I was able to reuse them. My fingers are too big kinda' a b---h to get back in, but I got 'em.

Thanks Lewis - I'll holler back for lining info once I get this stuff cleaned up good. And Tom, like the 90 cent fix alot better than my $5 fix! They are sweet tho after they're done. One of my O carbs has a choke that won't close all the way so will have to get into that sometime soon. Also, someone posted a question a while back as to what size those little screws are and don't remember seeing a response. I have a couple extras but no clue what size they are - SMALL.

Terry,
I was looking for the screws, Jeremiah Chamberlin let me know the size they are 3/48
Picked up a box of 100 from mcmaster Carr. They always have fast shipping.
They prolly have the clutch material you will be needing.

Perfect - will be checking them out! Thanks for the screw info. Man, if I ever need 100 of those little jokers I'm in BIG trouble!

Thoffman.....Since you are talking about those throttle shaft bushings again, would you mindsharing the part number on that again? We have severall places that carry Hillman stuff around here.I know I wrote it down last time you or who ever posted that part number, but I have misplaced it. lol thanks in advance.

Ron S, Lewis Do-Da and Kraig Oh Great One Keeper of the Photos - you guys figured it out, and I see it took Lewis 29 minutes to find one that he hadn't ever seen before. Sorry I was confusing this between models. I swear I saw it used on the earlier narrrow frames. Guess I'll have to back off so many messages. Thanks again for clearing it up.

Harry it took 29 minutes to find it because it fell on the floor under the 782...

The Hillman part # is 58087 1/4"x7/16x1/16.I procured mine from Sears hardware.
These will not work on the 7 HP carbs.

Just catching up on the reading here...about climbing in cabs...its pretty tough for me because I'm short...haha. My Original with the SIMS cab is a tight squeeze...I have to put my right leg in first, over the shifter, get it firmly planted in the footrest, grab the steering wheel, and pull myself in. Otherwise I bump my foot in the key and break it off, hit the starter button, or my worst fear-breaking off the creeper handle! BUT, once in place you're ready to be blown away by all 161 cubes of raw power!!!!! (sorry for the off topicness of the current chit chat, just my thoughts)

It's kind of hard to mulch leaves When the exhaust keeps blowing them farther away. I saw a post awhile back about using under the sink material and it works. Guess I lost a point for this.

Art - I see the repair pieces for your break style PTO and super steer up grade for the steering box. Since you have a three turn steering box

. I wonder if it will make much difference in steering effort. You will have to report back on all those repairs.
