OK Guys- I'm having a slight issue with the removal of the trunion springs/cams on my 149. The keepers are removed. My question would be does the shaft need some pursuasion(sp) or should it come out fairly easily? The cam is loose that goes with the spring set-up but the part holding the springs won't let it come off.

Also, what are the lengths of the bolts (3/8") that attach the frame to the trans. There are six of them but I'm mainly concerned about the four that go into the rearend. I would assume they are about 1 to 1 1/2". The po had three different sizes for these four bolts.

There should be a horse shoe clip on there and after you remove the clip ,

it should come right off.
parts look up will tell you the bolts length.
 
Matt- or anyone who has relined their brakes themselves, what type of glue or adheasive do i need to use?

I have removed clips from both sides of the trunion shaft. Is it suppose to just slide out? It moves freely but only about 1/4". My question is can I safely drive this shaft out? The parts lookup doesn't give bolt lengths that I have found but that part I can figure out. Two of the bolts were 3" and I'm sure that's not right.

I might get to relining mine this weekend... I bought lining from McMaster for less than 20 bux... I will use Epoxy to bond them to the metal plates... I scraped the old pad off, but they will see a grinder outside this afternoon. If the old material contains asbestos, I want it to go outside... I may wet the area to keep the dust to a minimum... I will take pics...
 
WAYNE - If You look at the large dia. faces of the axle carriers, one's pretty flat, think it's the left side, other carrier is Very thick, recessed in fact. The two three inch long bolts go with the thicker flange carrier.

I would use liquid nails or some similar epoxy or adhesive. Make sure you're gluing the material to bare metal, and not paint.
 
Wayne Shytle You are Correct, parts look up don`t even show the rear end. I can tell you that the bolts on the right side that go throught the frame to hold the rear end in are longer than the ones on the left.I would have to take mine apart to tell you the length but I can`t today. That Plate you show in your picture should slide off after you take the clip off the end of the shaft. All the springs will fall out when you seperat the two hydro parts. The shaft coming from the hydro pump will not come out unless you take the pump apart.Once the clip is removed you should be able to seperate the two. next week I can remove mine and check the lenth if you need me to. Let me know.
 
Thanks Dennis , I would say 3' bolts go on the right side and around 2" on the left. If you look at the back of the rear end you will see the right side is thicker.
 
Matt- Thanks I ordered the material from Macmaster Carr today it was for a 3/16th in thick, 6in side by the foot. per foot it was 2.00 a foot. It will be here next week. So I need to use and epoxy adheasive, thanks.
