Here's a better view of the axle mod on Eric's 128. Looks to me like it has a non-stock axle, and it might even be a home made one. Looks to be made from square tubing.

Actually, that axle's pretty slick, along with the 2 link setup (can't call 'em split wishbones, cause there's no wishbone split at the end of the rod

)..The PO musta been a hot-rodder...
BTW, there's actually a CubFAQ (80)for tightening up the front cross member pivot point.. I don't have any C-clamps big enough to squeeze that sucker ...

Actually you are right he use to be Bush series nascar driver back in the 80's early 90's. problem is there are no bump stops and axle makes steering linkage hit the frame.

Eric, bump stops could be easily added, a little quality time with a welder... Well, OK, it would be easy for someone that knows how to weld, not me.

I'd have to drill holes, thread said holes and install bolts using the bolt heads as the bump stops. Or get my friend Art to do the welding.

Right now i am trying to figure out which screw on the carb. to turn to adjust the carb from being to rich. it has a burnt gas fume smell and gives me a headache.

By the way the carb on mine has a adjust screw on top and two off to the side.

ERIC - Top screw, turn it in, or Clockwise. Start with a quarter turn, 90 degrees, slot on the top at a right angle to where i;s at now.

The other screws are idle mixture, and low idle speed. The idle mixture is on the right side at a 45 degree angle, the idle speed is on the top but the head faces the back of the tractor.

I adjusted the top screw, it's better do i need to adjust the mixture screw? It still smokes ligthly, kind of a light greysih to white, now.

Just to give you an example of how he rigged it up, the key switch went bad and he put nascar style toggle switches in to start it up.

Eric, You should see the mod's that Denny has done to his Cub Cadet model 72. Yep the same Dennis Frisk that's been answering your carb questions. Not sure if he still has his home made fuel tank in it or not, but here's some photos of it:

I really do appreciate all the help, as i just spoke to the place repairing my husq. and it's going to be another 2 to 3 weeks before kohler rep can get out o look at the engine.

It's Official, will snow shortly. I took the snow thrower off today.

Tom, naw, to be sure it'll snow you have to get the mower deck mounted up...

how do you know which set of brake pads to get. i have one side that is metal on metal, so they need to be replaced.

Eric - One set of pads will have about 1/8" holes in the backing plates IF they were riveted.
The other type is bonded on (glued) and don't have the little holes.
CC Specialties can fix ya up.

Eric, see the Cub Cadet Parts Lookup button up above? If you click on it you can then enter in the model number of your Cub Cadet and get exploded parts views and parts lists. Here's an exploded view of the 3 versions of brake assemblies that were used on the 128:

Once you determine what type brakes you have you can then order the pads. The other buttons above are links to various forum sponsors several of them can supply you with the brake pads. You might even be able to buy just the linings and reline your existing parts.
