On the hydraulic lift handle there is a bracket that connects the lift handle cross shaft to the hydraulic control valve. Most likely this bracket is loose or perhaps even broken.

Morning guys (Denny)

Well my house confuser had a meltdown so i`am on my wifes lap top now.I have a 44" deck in the shed and will have to see how it is for cutting some grass this spring.snow is hard to find here now and just were the sun can`t hit it there is some left.I`am going to get out the spreader soon and give the green a little fert. I bought some plastic sleves for the rod bolts to keep the crank from damage when I take the piston out any day now.I don`t think I will be able to paint my 125 as planned because of my neck problem and will just have to put it back together now that everything has be looked at and repaired.I have not decided what I will do with all my tractors now that I know I can`t refurb them all as I planned.I think my Original will be the only tractor to get paint this year. Thanks for all the help in the past with my Cubs guys. Later Don T

Don,

You've been a tremendous help to all of us, particularly me, in the past. I hope your neck gets better. What happened, have you had surgery?

Norm Bartee

No to the sugery I told my doctor,They have to operate from the front of my neck and will only give me a 15% chance they can repair the damage.Thats not the best odds for me to let them operate. I can still post on my limited Cub knowledge and read all the posts here every day.But I know now that 11 Cubs are more than I can look after .

Don-

Good to see you back and I certainly hope things start looking up.

Don't be making any decisions right now as to what to do with your cubs. They don't eat anything and will keep. I know that on top of your immediate medical problems you still have yellow fever. Down here we have "rent a Mexican" for things we aren't able or just don't want to do.

At our age we heal a little slower but we heal.

A millionaire once told me "when in doubt, do nothing". Give things time and hang in there; tomorrow's another day.

Don T,
It of course depends on just what your neck problem is, but don't discount surgery completly. I had some compressed disc in my neck and some spurs (mother natures way of fusing disc) that were pinching my spinal cord, and causing some numbness in my right arm and hand. They did the surgery from the front (less painful than going in from the back because they don't have to go thru any muscle), and fused 3 vertebrae (C4/5, 5/6,6/7), and added steel plates and a hand full of screws (8). The 6/7 fusion was later found to be incomplete, but has not cause a problem. I was on the table for over 6 hours, came out of the recovery room about 8PM, and was discharged and walked out of the hospital the next morning. This was done in 1997. I can't turn my head as far as I used to, but still have as much movement as I need, and at 70 years old still do whatever I want to with my Cub Cadets. I had some restrictions for 11 weeks after the surgery, then the doctor cleared me to return to my normal duties/activities. I would go thru it again rather than put up with the neck pain I was having. I missed working/playing with the Cub Cadets for the 11 weeks I was off work, but can now do what ever I want to do with them course my age slows me down a little now, at least I blame it on my age

What happened to me all the cushion between 4 and 5 leaked out and I have compression on the nerves, much pain and discomfort with it.the doctor wants to fuse 4 and 5 together and hopefully cut my pain level down.I won`t take oxicotton that my doctor wants to give me. I find it hard to want to work on my tractors but unable to do much at all now for two weeks. I not going to anything rash right now but I have to decide if I need 11 Cubs.If I keep them all I will want to take them all apart and refurnish them ,this I know. One day at a time I guess. Thanks, Its nice to know some one else suffers the pain I do lately. I`am headed to my shop and blow some paint and see if I can do it. later Don T

Ah yes ! Corned beef and potatoes and home made slaw. Wonderful way to end a day.
Outside cat beat the Cub to a few left overs. LOL Ya know, fat, for wheel lube. Just to be on subject)

Been a busy week!

Don: I'm posting my thoughts on your situation in the "Coming and Goings" section unless Charlie has a better idea.

Norm & Dennis: I really appreciated the detailed write-up on the Trunnion Weld Repair: very timely for me.

Matt G: Thanks for getting me over the hump of my initial disappointment when I learned that I would have to remove the transmission in order to access the trunnion springs.

222678.jpg

By-the-way, you are correct. One doesn't need to remove the tranny in order to remove the linkage plates and replace the trunnion springs on a wide frame. The initial FAQ on the "My hydro is slipping" chain should be edited to reflect that fact, in my opinion.

222679.jpg

After I cleaned the plates up, I noticed an arrow above the slot in the Speed Cam Assembly. I'm assuming this is intended as an aid to locating neutral upon reassembly and adjustment. Can anyone confirm?

(No Charlie, I haven't yet consulted the manual, I just wanted to post a picture and elicit a response.)

Jeremiah, I think I would have chosen 'Sandbox' instead of 'Comings and Goings', I think Don has a lot of life in him yet! LOL

Jeremiah, I could be wrong but I believe the only mention of that arrow on the cam plate is in the 72, 1x4/5 series service manual.

The weather here is getting nice so I will have that lift arm in the mail soon. I don`t want to install bats until it stops freezing here.

Thanks to all the great people on this site ! The best on the net .

Don,

Chris, you didn't specify what model Cub Cadet but your profile says you have a 125 so I'll go with that. The brake rod should be straight with a 90° bend on each end:

The brake rod on a 125 is a straight rod .

Here is my 125 rear end with the brake rod attached. Hope this helps !

Well I need some advice on how to get rid of the chloride damage from it leaking out onto the tire off my 100. Any ideas on how to get this crap off the tire.
