OK, so, I'm getting the PTO clutch cleaned, painted and going back together w/new thrust button, screws, springs and throw out levers. Figured I may as well use the new clutch disc door prize that I won at Buck Creek #1 plow day last year, (thanks Charlie!!

I get to reading in the service manual, page 2-78 about there being a dual disc repair kit for the 14 HP that can be adapted to the 10 and 12 HP PTO's

Should I be considering this, as I plan on using the 126 for tiller and snow thrower duty as well as cultivating.

There were 2 flat springs in the 126 PTO unit when I took it apart. Should I replace both of them or only one w/new?
Does the dual disc kit contain longer screws then and are the discs both the same thickness as a single disc unit?

Thanks Guys!

The dual disk upgrade only applied to the early thin disk versions. All new service kits contain the heavy single disk that is suitable for all hp engines.

David S.
If you replace one, the new one will end up with the same tension as the old one over a short period of time from over stress.

Charlie, I have one new spring and the 2 used ones that I took out, which I put back in.

So, I need to pitch the used ones and get another new one to go with the one I have?

David S - before you go pitching the 2 old springs I'd like to send you my address and you could pitch them my way. I'll include the stamps.

Thanks Harry but I'd better hang onto them.
I have a few other NF's and non QL wide frames that I have not gotten to yet and have no idea as to what they might need.

That leads me to another question about my 126 engine tins. They were mostly missing in action when I got it and I now have all of them rounded up, painted and ready to reinstall. The question I have concerns the head bolts and xtra thick flat washers. Do they go on top of the sheet metal sandwiching it between the washer and the tops of the aluminum spacers or under the tin on top of the spacers and then using a plain flat with lock washer on top of the tin?
Thanks again Guys!

WE are heading out this AM to fetch an 882
ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

Well, new Vredestein steer tires and tubes coming for both Cubs. Most of the lettering on the original Goodyear tire on the 122 is gone, guess it was time. Think I'll put in another order for new wheel bearings later on and get those rims cleaned up too.
