Is there more than one style/type of sub-frame for a front mount blade for a wide frame tractor? I picked one up to convert my 42" blade off the 100 to fit onto my 782 but the quick hitch pins seem to be too far back? The end of the frame that slips over the rock shaft barely makes it onto the shaft, it doesn't bottom out like it did on the 100 with the narrow frame set up. Did they make different ones for the IH models vs the Quietlines or something? Very confused! It looks like I need to cut the tabs off and move them about an inch or more towards the front end of the sub-frame???

There's quite a bit of difference between the NF and WF blade mounts.
NF mounts are going to be to narrow for a WF.
The mounting pins are facing inwards on a NF and out on a WF.
And I think that the rails going back to the rock shaft are going to be to short and will have to be extended and bent to fit a WF.

Thanks Kraig and Earl, I'm glad to be back. I was VERY lucky this time. Lesson learned the hard way, but sometimes that's the way it has to be, I suppose.

You are absolutely right, Earl, any other Garden tractor (Sears, JD, whatever), most likely would have been toast, but it didn't even phase the 108. Afterwards, I put Ags on the back of it and 50# wheel weights on it. Haven't taken it up any hills (and never will again), but it sure made a difference. That stinks about the OT, but like me, you learned. I guess the Lord was keeping an eye on me that day, cause about the only thing that took a serious beating was my pride!

Things are going a bit slow, so I'll post a few pics.

This property has been in my family for 4 generations. It used to be an 80 acre farm, but now my Dad owns a little over 40 of what it used to be. This past year was a very, very wet year down here, and because of that, this happened:

This happened on the back part of our property. It's going to take us all summer to get this cleaned up! Also, we are planning on putting out a nice sized garden this year. Not sure what veggies dad is wanting to plant. Between cleaning the hillside and tending the garden, there is plenty to do here. Plus, we are in the midst of remodeling the house. I will post more pics when I get them. Thanks!

I put my #2 tiller on the back of my 1450 last night. I got them in a package deal a couple of years ago and haven't used the tiller. I used the lift pin that came with it and found that when I lift the tiller the lift pin contacts the tiller gear box.

Can anyone tell me what the distance between the 1/4" hole and the 1/2" hole should be? I want to measure mine and see what I have.

Thanks,

Bob

I thought there was 2 different wide frame snow blade sub frames. Something on the 82 series had changed, but I don't know. I only have quietlines and have seen or used the narrow frame ones. I have wide frame model like Charlie posted.

Yes there is a huge difference between narrow and wide frame sub frames. That I can tell. What Earl is saying is what I am talking about. Mine seems to be too short for the 83 series tractor?? Also, where the lift rod hooks to blade is really close to the front frame of rector under grill is this normal!??

Isn't that what I said?

Maybe. But is there two different versions for a wide frame?? One for the 82 series and one for the quiet lines? I am trying to figure out if I have one for a quiet line which would mean it will not work on my 782????

Mike,

I know there are differences. I have one of each, but its been awhile since I looked at the 782. I remember that the lift rod is a different diameter (1/2 vs 5/8") and the bracket that the lift rod attached to the A-frame is different (to allow float on the 782). I swapped the blade to the sub-frame assembly for my 1250, so it must not have been going to work otherwise. The parts look-up above has 2 different part numbers.

The 782 has a different distance between the QA brackets and the front PTO pulley. But I don't know about the distance to the rockshaft. Hope this helps.

There's a version with some cross bracing back on the rails and one that doesn't have any, Either one will switch from a QL to a 82 series with no issues what so ever.
Same tractor frame and same sub frame for the blades.

Why not post a picture?

Last I read, you were talking about from a 100 to a QL, NF to WF.
Now it's WF to WF?

Here's a couple of pics from over at the cabin the weekend before last. Went over to build a second wood shed up the hill to store more firewood. I used the 123 and trailer to haul the building supplies up the hill. man what back saver.

Doug,
That's a nice looking wood shed (and 123). I broke out the 108 today to haul some wood that I split (it is a GREAT wood hauler). Can't wait to put the deck on it and cut some grass.

Thanks Billy. looking at your pic's you should have plenty of firewood next winter once you get those windfalls cleaned up.

The blade on my 782 is a total pain to put on. The rears just barely touches the rock shaft before the QA pins engage. So yes they DO NOT bottom out on the rock shaft.

So it is this balancing act of getting the rear arms to engage while lifting the front to engage the QA pins. I have often thought of welding extensions on the rear arms so they will stay up while mounting.
