Glen-
350# rating turnbuckles might not be enough. I've got some test data run with a CAT1 hitch and a 12" plow that shows occasional spikes well beyond 350#. This is all with the caveat that this was a "brand x" tractor weighted to the hilt and with their own geometry (thouough if you read any of the old '70's era engineering prints from JD, they ALL say Brinly on them).

Thaks All, and Yes I did see kraigs post Charlie, but someone decided to delete my favorites while I was away... ugggg

Michael,
I have just purchased a 1450 with a johnson loader. Currently I have it completely apart.
I am going out of town through Thursday.
I can provide you with all kinds of pictures and measurements.
email me as a reminder on Thursday...

I think I am really going to like mine.
I had to take it all off to do the hydrostat repairs, motor mounts and driveshaft repairs.

Charlie, Et al
As always thanks for the work on this forum.

Charlie,
In you loader pictures the lowest one posted. Is that owner on the list? I am looking for a detail picture(s) of the across the frame brace that goes above the driveshaft.
Mine was trimmed off at sometime. I suspect it was on a 1x9 series and then put on this 1450.
And rather than run without the side panels they cut the struts off. Not very nicely either.
I suspect that there should be some sort of across the frame structure that ties the two uprights together.

Thanks
Dudley

Replies other than very Busy Charlie also greatly appreciated..
Perhaps a copy of a Johnson Loader Manual, too.

Dudley,
I can't remember who that one belongs to, BUT, Kraig will and he'll let us know monday.
Here's some other info on the Johnson loader for ya, including the manual.
I've got to rework some of the pages, but they are readable as is for now.
Oh yea, it's over 8 meg so if your on dialup, go do something else for a while, LOL

Dudley,
Thanks for the offer. I'll get with you after the holiday.

I picked up a 1650 I bought on e-bay. (This seller was great to deal with! Had 1650 ready when I went to pick it up, not like the 782D dud) Was checking the serial number and discovered that it is only 81 from another 1650 I have. Wonder if they were made on the sameday? 613079 and 613160

Ebay at its best: I bid and won a 1863 Cub on ebay that was listed with no reserve. Shortly after, the seller e-mailed and said "oops, there was supposed to be a reserve, e-bay messed up." Well, the seller was an agent for someone else and the tractor has since been taken back by the owner. Other than leaving negative feedback, I am not going to waste any time or money chasing these guys. E-bay has yet to respond to my complaint 3 days ago.

I had a similar situation as Frank did. I E-mailed E-Bay and never heard back.

In my opinion, E-Bay seems to be more concerned with Buyers that are Non-Payers than Sellers that are Non-Producers. Just don't seem fair. Again, IMHO, the E-bay is part of this problem in that they appear to have this apathetic attitude towards these Dead Beat Sellers and look the other way

That is my story, and I am sticking to it.

Pat: I really have to disagree with you here in regards to buying & Ebay. I suspect you are not out any money.

I sold a car on ebay and the winner of the bid was from Portugal. I listed in the ad that I would sell to USA and Canada only with CASH or cashiers check. He wanted to do an international wire transfer or some BS and the guy had 4 negative feedbacks with only 6 positive feedbacks for a total score of only 2. That's a really bad score. I said no, I won't sell to you because you are overseas and in violation of the auction terms. He left me negative feedback. I contacted ebay to no avail. He wasn't out any money, he was just a... (I left him negative feedback and I just checked another guy did too, so it now has a zero score and the guy deregistered it - to probably open another...)

So Pat, perhaps the guy really meant to have a reserve which is most likely since the owner of the machine meant to tell the seller but forgot or didn't understand. I do hope that you retract your negative feedback. (Unless you lost $ and if you did, I'd recommend court.)

I pulled the electric lift apart and indeed the brass bushing on the bottom of the motor is stuck. The also pulled the worm gear out and I suspect that it is junk. I chucked it up to the drill and moved the arm out and in, but I could stop it from moving if I held it by hand. It was a little difficult but shouldn't it be impossible? Or or they suppose to do that so you don't burn out the motor when it is down/up all the way?? The "teeth " edges of the worm gear looks a little gnarly too. Should they be crisp?

Chris - How many shares of ebay stock do you own ?? You're taking up for them to much to say "none".
Pat said the guy said ebay messed up not putting the reserve in. Ebay doesn't put in the reserve, the seller does.
I've sold cub parts on there that didn't bring what the scrap metal price would have brought ... I bit my lip and cussed but I shipped it out like a man !!

Ebay can keep pulling this crap if they want to but they'd better be ready for a world wide class action law suit as I think it's coming once everyone figures it out and gets together.

Hello,

I didn't stay for the meeting at the roundup.. Does anyone know where it is headed for the year 2010?? Thanks........

Great forum! Thanks for answering the questions, I know it takes some time. Does anyone have a picture of a 147? I purchased a book at the RPRU and the picture of the 147 in the book is completely differnt than mine. Thanks in advane, have a safe 4th of July.

Curtis, thanks... I do believe I actually tighted it about a quarter turn. I mistook "right-handed" thread as meaning a backward thread from the usual "rightsy-tightsy, lefty-loosey."

Now it is stuck worse. I'm hoping a small impact drill-wrench will get it off without damaging anything.

Matt, great job on your deck!

Here is the deck for the 100. The amount of time, effort and MONEY that goes into these decks to rebuild is hard to believe. The center spindle needed everything bearings ,seals and new pully there went a C-note along with new seals for the other two spindles as well as paint, hardware, sanding and 10 man hrs.BLA BLA BLA.
The cool thing about all this effort is you have a rebuilt deck good for another 40 years and most of the parts were on the shelf at the good old Case IH dealer just down the road..

Chris,
The bushing and shaft should be easy to clean up. I found that the worm gear is much harder than the larger spur gear. You should check for backlash on the gears. To check mine I coated the spur gear with a thin layer of gease then reassembled. I turned the worm gear a couple of turns. Finally I diassemble and checked to see how much grease sqeezed out. I have made shims out of thin gauge steel to put between the spur gear and bearing to tighten up the gears.

You definitely know if it is a 147 by the frame. The 147 frame is unique to the 147 only. It has a special notch added to clear the 14hp flywheel which is larger than then the 10 & 12 HP engines.

GP - and if it's really a 147 Charlie and Terry will be over there tonight trying to buy it from you ;)

M&M - Don't forget to grease it before ya run it ! Nasty ol grease yuck!
